The firm has a well-established client base and the Claims Handling Department provides an outsourced managed claims handling service for leading professional indemnity insurers. The team adjusts claims made against professionals on behalf of leading insurers, acting under delegated authority levels for pre-litigated matters from first notification of loss to resolution. The firm's Claims Handling Department provides significant value to the wider law firm through the provision of referrals and is an important aspect of the firm's insurance business and future strategy; as such, this is an important role for the business.

This role is based in our client's Bristol office, however you will be able to work remotely from home for part of the week if desired, as the firm operates a hybrid working policy.

Your new role
The firm are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to join their team who will be responsible for the day-to-day operations management of the department. This new role is intended to support the development and progression of the management team. It is to be internal only and is not client facing. You will work alongside their current Head of Claims Handling and report into the Partner with overall responsibility for the Claims Handling Department, both of whom are based in their Bristol office.The role requires excellent people and operations management skills and the ability to manage a dynamic team. You will work closely with the Head of Legal Claims Handling, Scheme Managers, and the Administration Team Leader to monitor and control the throughput of work so that claims are effectively managed and client expectations are met.The firm is looking for an experienced Operations Manager who can drive performance against contractually-set client SLA's and manage process adherence at every level of the department. The key responsibilities of the role will be to assist the Diabetes Specialist Nurses (DSNs) to educate and empower people with diabetes to self-manage their condition within our inpatient and outpatient services. You will also support the DSNs to overcome barriers which may prevent this.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a fixed term (12 month) Locum Consultant post in the Haematology Department within Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre.

University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest acute Trusts in the country and a major teaching and research centre for the South West.

The adult Haematology department has 16 haematology consultants who work between Bristol and Weston Hospitals based at Bristol Haematology & Oncology Centre (BHOC).

The Bristol Haematology Unit offers tertiary level service for stem cell transplants, CAR T cell therapy, Haemostasis and Haemophilia, haemato-oncology, and haemoglobinopathy.

There is a strong emphasis on research with BHOC trials unit actively recruiting in over 100 trials. There are close links with the University of Bristol and the University of the West of England.

The successful candidate must be registered with the GMC with a valid license to practice and should have completed Specialist Training (or equivalent) and be entered on the Specialist Register of the GMC, or have a CCT date in Haematology within six months of the date of interview.

This is a fulltime (10PA) Locum Consultant post in Haematology based at the University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS. This post is across both Bristol and Weston and will support the integration of haematology services in Bristol and Weston. This is a locum appointment with a view to a substantive post with a specialist interest in Laboratory Haematology and Myeloid disease. The post includes Laboratory attending on a 1 in 8 basis.

The post-holder will take part in the 3 clinics per week including two Malignant haematology clinics with a myeloid focus one in Weston and one in Bristol working alongside colleagues. There is also a Myeloma clinic in Weston working alongside the Myeloma team. In addition they will participate in a 2 week wait clinic on a rotational basis 1 in 3 or 4 weeks. Laboratory attended takes place in Bristol and involves supervision of the Laboratory SpR reporting blood films and bone marrow aspirates from Bristol and Weston, and review of Haematology outliers in Bristol. There is also an on site laboratory in Weston where blood films are reviewed and reported.

The post holder will also contribute to an email advice and guidance service for GPs for UHBW.

In its current format the post does not have out of hours but this and acute ward attending in Bristol is negotiable.

The Department hosts a leadingcomprehensive epilepsy service providing all aspects of care for people with epilepsy from first seizure clinics to epilepsy surgeryevaluations.

We have 4 dedicated video telemetry beds for pre-surgical evaluationfor VNS andresectivesurgeryand haveaccess to all necessary investigations including 3T MRI, fMRI,PET,MEG,SPECT andstereoEEGtechniques.We were the first UK centre to provide roboticstereoEEGand currently provide approximately 100 surgical work ups per year including 10-20stereoEEGs.


The successful candidate will take leadership responsibility for the provision of services to patients with epilepsy and LearningDisability and for the provision of specialist drug services such as Cannabidiol and Fenfluramine to thesouth west.


The post holder will have the opportunity to report their ownvideoEEGs(if suitably experienced) with dedicated EEG reporting time although alternate provision for neurophysiology support may be possible if not.


Communications and Relationships:
The post holder will be expected to have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues. The post holder will be empathetic and sensitive to patients needs and able to explain things clearly – particularly complex or sensitive information.

Responsibility for Patient Care:
The post holder will have continuing responsibility for the care of patients in his or her charge and for the proper functioning of the service and will undertake the administrative duties associated with the care of patients and the running of the clinical department.

Responsibility for People Management:
The Post Holder will be expected to provide compassionate leadership to their clinical teams. This may include multi-agency teams within Primary and Secondary Care. They will be responsible for the supervision of junior staff within their team and will lead by example and with compassion.

The post will include 2epilepsyclinics per week(1 first seizure and 1 complex epilepsy)and1 general neurology clinic per week. Once a month a general neurology clinic will be replaced by a neurologyhot-clinic. The post holder will work within UHBW and be responsible for organising a number of outpatient clinics. This will include the receipt and processing of referrals in accordance with the Patient Access Policy and local Referral to Treatment (RTT) guidance. The role of Outpatient Appointment Coordinator is to serve as a contact for patients accessing our services. The role is therefore responsible for setting high standards of patient care by enacting the Trust’s values at all times.

Communication:

- To liaise with patients, wards, clinical staff, GPs and Trust support staff in person, via telephone and email as and when necessary
- Escalate patient queries and any general issues to clinical staff or line manager as appropriate

Patient Care:

- Lung Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) – provide patients with next step information as directed by team.

Senior Nurse Developmental Role

We strongly encourage applications from newly qualified registered nurses, or those close to obtaining qualified status, who will initially be offered a preceptorship position (Agenda for Change Band 5) and then supported to be eligible to move into the Senior Nurse position (Agenda for Change Band 6).

We also encourage experienced Band 5 nurses looking for a career in offender healthcare, with a structured progression pathway.

Job descriptions and person specifications for both band 5 and band 6 are attached. Further professional development and training is strongly encouraged and supported.

Personal Development Plan

There will be a clear plan to support you in developing the competencies within the framework that will be agreed by your line manager. You will be supported and encouraged to take increasing autonomy over time.

Oxleas use a Personal Development Review (PDR) and Plan (PDP) process on an annual basis with all staff. In a preceptorship role, this structure will be used to support the agreement of a Personal Development Plan within the 12 weeks of starting your role with us. It will be reviewed more frequently than the usual PDR process, as agreed with your supervisor and manager e.g. every 6 months. Your Personal Development Plan will be agreed with your manager and supervisor who will support you in identifying areas of development and the associated activities and support required to work towards the competencies set out in the framework.

Summary of evidence

You will need to prepare a portfolio for documenting evidence of your skills and experiences to demonstrate your competence as a Senior Nurse. These competencies were derived from the NHSE and RCN competency framework.

Criteria for progression from Band 5 to Band 6

The developmental roles for newly qualified and experienced nurses have been introduced in Oxleas Forensic and Offender Healthcare to provide a framework that enables us to support colleagues to develop beyond their entry level role with a progressive and satisfying job plan. It is intended to support staff wellbeing, encourage the retention of quality staff and support individuals within the custodial setting with greater consistency of care.

It is expected that you will have the relevant post-qualification experience before applying to progress to Band 6.

A competency framework will be agreed with your clinical supervisor or line manager who will support you to achieve the competencies required of a Senior Nurse in Offender Healthcare.
