Division Summary
The Risk division encompasses the Credit Risk, Country Risk, Operational Risk, Physical Commodities Risk Assurance, Business Continuity Management and Market Risk disciplines. Credit Risk consists of the rating and analysis, ongoing monitoring and reporting of the credit exposure that the Bank runs.
Job Purpose
A 8-month placement to assist both the Credit Risk and PCRA teams. Applying experience and strong awareness of ICBC Standard Bank’s operations with a view to minimising the inherent risks to the Bank while simultaneously managing these against the rewards implied by the Bank’s activities.
Key Responsibilities
Credit Risk
Assist the Credit Risk team with the following key responsibilities;
· Counterparty risk management including analysis of financial information, liaise with clients to test & authenticate information supplied, assist in the end-to-end credit risk process, liaise with Front Office on requests, provide input of credit terms in legal documentation and assist in ratings and limit/appetite setting.
· Transaction risk assessment including reviewing new and existing transactions with a particular focus on global markets, commodities and derivative products, and some structured transactions.
· Portfolio management including ongoing monitoring of the creditworthiness of the portfolio, monitoring, and managing customer positions including limit excesses and non-payment or disputed margin calls.
Physical Commodities Risk Assurance
Assist the PCRA team with the following key responsibilities;
· Daily reporting: Ensuring daily and monthly reporting on location, group provider and notional inventory (NIRF) limits, aged inventory, and first line of defence inspection activity is accurate, comprehensive and issued on a timely basis.
· Inspections: Participating in PCRA physical inspection and desktop assurance activity, including participation in warehouse / vault / refinery / terminal / port visits globally, performance of desktop assurance reviews and agreeing and tracking actions.
· On-boarding: Providing sign off on the on boarding of new locations based on the data supplied in the Storage Location questionnaire and due diligence process, including approval of limits (subject to PCRA Delegated Authority thresholds) in inventory management systems.
· Monthly reporting: Production of papers for the Physical Commodities Committee.
Pre-requisites
· A degree, or equivalent in an appropriate discipline
· Experience of working in a regulated environment, ideally Financial Services
· Proven track record of performance in Financial Services
· Credit analysis experience
· Strong knowledge and awareness of ICBC Standard Bank’s operations
