We are looking for a dynamic and motivated General Manager to join the Emergency Department at UCLH. The post holder will be predominantly responsible for the smooth delivery of operational and performance targets within the Emergency Department as well as the continuous improvement within the Department.

The successful candidate will have strong operational management experience and will be expected to learn and develop within the role as well as provide operational leadership for the Emergency Services Department. The post holder will be responsible for the day to day running of the service, effective management of budgets, workforce, performance and service improvements.

· Provide an efficient and effective administrative service to a multidisciplinary team, acting as a source of expert advice and support for trouble shooting non-routine matters or resolving initial complaints.

This is a full-time permanent Band 5 role in the Head & Neck team, which sits within the Division of Surgical Specialities.

The post holder will be an essential part of the Head & Neck admin team, providing high quality facilitation and co-ordination of the multidisciplinary (MDT) team meetings. They will have a strong role in managing an effective patient pathway for cancer patients from referral through to diagnosis and treatment, ensuring the delivery of Cancer Waiting Time Targets.

The MDT coordinator has key working relationships with patients & carers, GPs and members of the internal administrative team and clinical teams including managers, administrators, nursing and medical staff, allied health professionals and support workers. They will frequently liaise with a range of staff internally and externally across the Trust and with partner and external other NHS Trusts organisations.

This role includes line management duties for 1x B4 MDT Assistant, will require some on-site working and cross cover where required.

This post for a Team Leader / Senior Clinical Research Nurse (TL/SCRN) under the supervision of Professor Lovat is to undertake two separate roles:

The first, and more strategic part of this role will be to support in leading the development of the Gastrointestinal Services Research Support Team at UCLH. The team requires the TL/SCRN to direct line management of UCLH employed research nurses (x2) and joint leadership of clinical trials practitioners and data managers employed by UCL. The post holder will help support and develop this team and will coordinate the work that they do in collaboration with the PIs. This should take approximately 50% of the post-holder’s time.

The second role is to work with the Upper Gastrointestinal and Endoscopy Research team at UCLH within a multi-disciplinary team. The post will involve leading recruitment of various GI studies. Professor Lovat is leading in building an Endoscopy database that aims to support current AI Studies and future projects. The successful postholder will maintain their own portfolio of studies in addition to their management responsibilities.

The post will involve working with GI research team which includes two clinical research fellows, one senior trial coordinators, and two UCLH clinical research nurses. The successful candidate will act as the team leader and oversee the work that the team members undertake. For the wider strategic role, the post will involve working with a much wider group of support staff and clinical fellows.

Responsibilities will include helping to screen and recruit patients, co-ordinating the care of patients on trials, collection and preparation of samples and collection of trial data, working closely with the radiology department and the clinical research facility team. It will also involve coordinating and running meetings, setting strategic targets, offering leadership in meeting the targets and coordinating interactions with the Joint Research Office (JRO) which is the R&D office of UCLH and UCL.

Health Education England has partnered with Trusts in North Central London to develop an innovative and exciting position designed for doctors who have completed Core Medical Training (CMT). This post is designed as a development opportunity prior to taking up a higher specialty physician training scheme.The Fellowship will be for a period of 12 months from September 2024.

The Fellow will work to provide cover for registrar colleagues to attend immersion periods in the endoscopy department at UCLH. This will mean the successful candidate will provide cover and therefore gain experience in a variety of different subspecialty disciplines such as IBD, pancreatobiliary, upper GI, nutrition and functional gut disease.

We will also aim to provide training in endoscopy who will in turn undergo immersive training. Any additional time will be spent on departmental projects that emphasise quality improvement and quality assurance under the auspices of the Divisional Lead. It is anticipated that these projects will provide invaluable experience for the postholder in the importance and delivery of Quality Improvement/assurance.

Exact timetables will be confirmed upon appointment, and will necessarily be flexible to provide immersion cover.

Ideally the fellows should have full MRCP (subject to exam cancellation due to COVID) and have a Core Medical Training outcome 6 or 10.1.
