An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Urology Unit Manager. The post holder will be expected to work Trust Wide supporting the Urology Matron and clinical lead nurse specialist to manage the teams across 3 sites: Wansbeck, North Tyneside and Hexham. Weekend and evening working will be required.
Urology in Northumbria has grown and is expanding with developments in progress in North Tyneside and Wansbeck.
The post holder will report to the Urology Matron, the individual will be responsible for the leadership, direction, performance and financial management of the Urology services.
The candidate will be required to supervise the urology services that will be delivered over three sites as well as work clinically. The service is rapidly evolving so change management skills will be required. We are looking for a visionary individual with excellent leadership skills.
The individual will be expected to undertake key operational management duties such as HR and day to day service management.
The unit manager will be responsible for supervising, coaching and providing support with education as well as succession planning.
The successful candidate will have a strong engagement approach and be able to demonstrate:

• The experience and knowledge of management processes
• Experience at band 6 level
• An understanding of Trust quality standards, ensuring the Urology Units are compliant across the organisation
• The ability to manage multiple teams across sites

• To understand the urology budget and initiate cost improvement
• To provide patient care at an advanced level
• To deliver governance standards in line with the Essence of Care Standards and the Trusts Governance Framework
• To respond to enquiries and PALS concerns, formal complaints and to actively problem solve to improve the patients experience
Essential:
• 1st Level live NMC Registered Nurse
• The post holder will be required to have highly developed specialist knowledge acquired through health related degree or equivalent knowledge and / or experience plus extensive post registration experience within surgical services
• Registered mentor
Desirable:
• Management / Leadership qualification
• Evidence of managing and leading a team through change process
• Basic knowledge of financial management
