To operate and maintain the Pathology Appointment telephone service for the Coventry and Warwickshire Pathology service (University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire; George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust and South Warwickshire Hospitals NHS Trust), and provide help when required to the Phlebotomy service.

We are looking for an administration assistant to operate and maintain the Pathology Appointment telephone service for the Coventry and Warwickshire Pathology service.
You will assist the CWPS Admin Manager (GEH) with administration tasks such as filing and photocopying.
The successful candidate will provide help when required to the Phlebotomy service, under the guidance of the Phlebotomy Supervisor and Pre-Analytical Lead Supervisor. Phlebotomy experience is desirable but full training will be provided.

To be fully familiar with the telephone booking system for making Phlebotomy appointments within CWPS.
To work with the CWPS Admin Manager, in monitoring all issues relating to accessibility of Pathology staff by outside users, to ensure that the most customer efficient service is developed.
General Office duties to include, data entry, typing, filing, post, preparing courier runs.
To transfer calls to all relevant Departments and individuals, having a sound knowledge of the whereabouts of listed individuals
To be trained in all relevant aspects of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), and have responsibility for giving results to callers for all disciplines in Pathology
To be familiar with patient resulting systems, and use these as a results system as well, when necessary.
To take and relay direct and telephone messages for all staff in the Department.
To undertake stock control for office stationery.
To undertake personnel filing on behalf of the CWPS Admin Manager.
To participate in appraisals and personal reviews and work to agreed set objectives.
Responsible for the collection of blood samples, from inpatients, outpatients, clinics, gp surgeries and homes of patients as specified by the supervisor.
Responsible for the safe disposal of contaminated materials including sharps.
Undertake preparation of samples for testing using separation techniques such as centrifugation and tapping off.
Undertake agreed clinical and non-clinical tasks following training, ensuring referral to appropriate trained staff as required.
Promote and monitor adherence to Health and Safety and Trust policy designed to protect healthcare staff and service users from known hazards.

To undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade as requested with prior discussion and agreement of post holder
