Orthopaedic plaster technicians work in the field of Trauma & Orthopaedic Outpatients, Fracture Clinic, Accident & Emergency Departments and Operating Theatres. It is your job to apply casts to patients, at the doctor’s request following an accident, for elective orthopaedic conditions and following surgery. You will be expected to complete the British Orthopaedic Association Casting Course after a minimum of one year working in the plaster service. Following qualification the person will be expected to remain within the department for a minimum of one year.

This is a developmental role and you will join the team as a trainee orthopaedic plaster technician. Following a minimum of one year working and learning within the plaster room you will be required to complete the British Casting Certificate (BCC). This certificate is validated by the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA) and the Association of Orthopaedic Practitioners UK (AOP UK) and is supported by the Society of Orthopaedic and Trauma Nursing (SOTN) of the Royal College of Nursing. Once the qualification is completed successfully you will receive 60 credits either at Diploma Level 8 SCQF equivalent to Level 5 NQF, or Degree Level 9 SCQF equivalent to Level 6 NQF. The course/examination will be undertaken on a 5-week residential course held at Stanmore Orthopaedic Hospital, London. Completion of the qualification will enable you to work in the plaster service as a Band 4 Junior Qualified Orthopaedic Plaster Technician and then progress into more senior roles as they become available.

The qualified Orthopaedic Plaster Technician is a vital member of the healthcare team providing a service not just in Orthopaedics and Trauma but also Trust-wide across many different specialties. In a similar way to Orthotists and Physiotherapists, they interpret prescriptions from a wider multidisciplinary team, being able to discuss issues of care with other relevant Healthcare Professionals.

We are recruiting High Intensity CBT trainees to join Croydon Talking Therapies. Postholders will spend three days a week in the service and over the other two days, they will undertake the PG Dip in CBT course at Royal Holloway University of London. Maidstone Hospital, situated in the heart of the Kent countryside, covers a large population and includes the regional Oncology centre which is expanding in support of the Kent cancer network.

The Histology department provides services for Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trusts, Medway NHS Foundation Trust and Dartford & Gravesham NHS Trust. Consequently there is a combined Histology workload of around 88,000 cases per year. The department carries out a wide range of investigations including various specialist resections from hospitals within the Kent & Medway. It also includes an expanding immunocytochemistry section that has an annual through-put of approximately 51,000 tests.

The department t is computerised and well equipped. Career development and participation in CPD are actively encouraged.

Applications are invited from HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists. This post would suit an enthusiastic and self-motivated person with good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team. Good hand eye coordination and attention to detail are essential requirements.

Candidates without HCPC registration will also be considered for a trainee BMS position provided they possess a degree in Biomedical Sciences validated as acceptable for HCPC registration by the Institute of Biomedical Sciences. Histology laboratory experience is essential.

The post holder will hold and maintain professional registration with the Health Professions Council (HCPC) as a Biomedical Scientist (BMS). They will fulfil their dissection duties in accordance with RCPath guidelines and will be required to perform dissection of histological tissue samples, under the supervision of a Consultant Pathologist. An exciting training opportunity has arisen in the Ultrasound Department within Radiology to train in Ultrasound and become a sonographer. The successful candidate will undertake a 18-to-24-month training program at Masters post-graduate level, leading to the successful completion of a post-graduate diploma in Medical ultrasound.

The aim being that at completion of training and preceptorship, the successful candidate will undertake and independently report general medical, gynaecology and obstetric ultrasound examinations to a high standard. Provide direct care and facilitate patient management, whilst seeking assistance when required.

The success full candidate will hold a BSc in radiography, or nursing / midwifery degree and obtained a 2:1 of higher and have a keen interest in ultrasound. You should have two or more years' experience of working in a NHS hospital setting. Applicants should ideally have a current Health Professions Council (HCPC) registration or equivalent.

This rotational trainee sonographer post serves Maidstone and The Tunbridge Wells at Pembury Hospitals and also the new Community Diagnostic Centre at Hermitage Court.

You will be joining a well-established, forward-going team of Sonographers and Radiologists providing a wide range of high-quality ultrasound examinations and independent reports. We have 13 Ultrasound rooms across the three sites and provide a wide range of examinations.



We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated, full-time band 6 trainee sonographer to train in ultrasound in our busy, friendly ultrasound department at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells Trust. We provide a comprehensive (mainly non-obstetric) ultrasound service to a wide range of specialities within the hospital and local GPs.

The successful candidate will undertake a post-graduate diploma in Medical Ultrasound. It is a full-time course consisting of a blend of study blocks/ set days at university and clinical placement across all MTW sites. The qualification will take approximately 24 months to complete.

Following successful completion, you would undertake a minimum of 3 months full-time preceptorship, progressing to a Band 7 when able to work to the same level as other junior Band 7 sonographers.

The sonographers are a supportive team, who will work to facilitate your learning. You will be assigned a mentor for each module who will assess your progress, discuss learning objectives, interesting cases, and work through any issues.

You will work in mainly outpatient and community sites undertaking routine scans requested by GPs, when more experienced you will work in ED ultrasound, inpatient ultrasound, SDEC (same day emergency care), portable scans on the ward, including ITU.

The programme is full-time (please emailmtw-tr.professionalstandards@nhs.netif this is problematic) and will involve travel to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area, classroom-based sessions and e-learning.
