The Essex PCN service are looking to recruit CWPs to continue to improve children and young people’s mental health services in Essex. The training forms part of the service transformation initiative delivered by NHS England as part of the Children and Young People’s Mental Health CYP Psychological Trainings (PT) (formerly CYP IAPT) programmes.

Trainees will join our already established PCN service across Essex to support young peoples mental health and wellbeing in the community.

This is a training position the post holder will undertake training at University College London alongside working in service for the Essex PCN. They will be taught to deliver evidence based guided self-help interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties. They will also be taught how to deliver interventions in the community, for example, participation activities, training and group delivery. The post holder will use their newly developed skills to support children and young people who are referred into the service and trainees will receive supervision to support their professional development, as well as be expected to actively engage local communities.



Applicants will need to be ready to start work on 6th January 2025 and posts cannot be offered to candidates unless they can guarantee this start date.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff). The first contract received is a fixed term training contract that will support the candidate to completion of the course. On successful completion of the course the candidate will be offered a permanent position within a vacant post in MHST. Please ask us about more information during your interview.



Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in CEME Campus, Rainham, Essex, RM13 8EU (please note: in order to travel to this destination you will have to make the Dartford crossing and be aware of the ULEZ charges). Candidates will need to have business insurance when travelling by car to claim both travel and above charges on expenses.

We are seeking to recruit 5 graduate level practitioners to provide guided self-help therapy and parenting interventions. These posts are salaried at NHS Agenda for Change band 4 and fully funded for a one year post graduate diploma in Child Wellbeing Practice through University College London. Further intensive supervision and on the job training will be provided by an experienced supervisor within each team.

This is a training role within the Children and Young Psychological Training programmes (CYP-PT). The post-holder will work within a CYP mental health service that is focussed on outreach to the community. Trainees will be delivering, under supervision, high-quality; brief outcome focused evidence-based interventions and guided self-help for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties within the community.

During training, the post-holders will work under close supervision to gain experience across healthcare and community settings to enable them to gain the level of competence required to deliver high-quality, evidence-based early interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health problems.

The successful candidate should
• Hold a 2:1 (Hons) Biological/biomedical science/life-sciences degree.
• Have a good work ethic.
• Be emotionally intelligent with excellent interpersonal skills.

Learn and understand how to review patient's notes for relevant medical history, pathology and diagnosis and how this affects the clinical decision process regarding the conduct of extracorporeal support.

Assemble, prime, de-air and manage extracorporeal devices and circuitry.

Be able to assess, interpret and manage a wide range of highly complex conflicting clinical information and use this information to take appropriate action.

To assist in the provision of a departmental autologous cell salvage service.

To acquire an understanding and assist in the management of an intra-aortic counter pulsation service.

To undertake the necessary training and examinations required to achieve the MSc qualification in Clinical Perfusion Science through Bristol University. Also to acquire the clinical perfusion skills during routine and emergency cardiac procedures.

The post holder will be managed continually and although there will be times when the post holder will be under direct supervision he/she should demonstrate a degree of initiative, be emotionally intelligent when working under pressure and be expected to work independently on designated tasks.
