Financial Oversight:

The Specialist Community Public Health Nurse training role has been evaluated at mid-point band 5 (currently £32,324) in accordance with HCT’s terms and conditions of appointment guidelines.

Internal staff wishing to train in a different specialty (e.g. a current HCT adult community nurse wishing to train as a public health nurse) will not be seconded and must resign from their current position.

The Trust will pay your course fees which includes but is not limited to, mandatory fees (including the index fee), community practice assessor costs, travel expenses when in clinical placement only, recruitment and/or management support costs and other ancillary costs incurred to support you through the course as the Trust may decide (the “Course Fees").

There is no guarantee of a band 6 post on completion of training. However, within the contract you will be expected to apply for available public health nursing posts in Hertfordshire on qualifying and remain in post for 2 years.

Unless there are exceptional circumstances (as decided by the Trust) or you are not offered a position within HCT upon qualification, you will be liable to pay back, within 2 years of completing the course, all or a proportion of the Course Fees (currently estimated to be £4,000) to the Trust in the following circumstances:

a) if you cease employment before you attend the course but the Trust has already incurred liability for some or all of the Course Fees; or

b) if you cease employment prior to completing the course or fail to successfully complete the course; or

c) if you do not take up permanent employment within the Trust as a qualified public health nurse on successful completion of the course when positions were available: or

d) if you take up permanent employment within the trust but do not remain in employment for at least 24 months after the date on which you begin permanent employment.

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

Key Responsibilities:

To prioritising own day to day workload.

· To offer support and clinical advice and guidance to more junior staff

· To undertake assessments of children and their family’s mental health and wellbeing needs. This will include telephone consolation and face to face meetings.

· To offer brief intervention/ advice and guidance to children and their families as appropriate.

To ensure all children are assessed in a timely manner in line with local and nation targets

In this varied and fast-paced role, you will be responsible for developing relationships with key media outlets and influencers to raise awareness of cystic fibrosis, the issues faced by people with the condition and Cystic Fibrosis Trust across the UK. You will also support the delivery of the Trust’s internal communications activity and support the Events and Celebrity Liaison Manager in managing the Trust's external events programme and cultivating and retaining key celebrity supporters and influencers.

As a member of the Communications Team, you will help develop external and internal communications on our research portfolio, policy and campaigning work and fundraising initiatives. You will also proactively monitor and look for opportunities for timely responses to the news agenda on social media.

With a fantastic nose for a story, you will have outstanding writing skills and be able to turn complex issues into compelling stories to pitch to journalists and to share with staff. You will be aware of the UK’s charity, healthcare, and policy landscape and have a keen eye on the news agenda, keeping abreast of developing trends and spotting opportunities to pitch comment pieces and reactive statements.

- Regularly review FSS processes for process continuous improvement opportunities. Deliver small-scale process change projects.
- Ensure that any standard operating procedures and process maps utilised to carry out FSS processes are accurate and up-to-date. Ensure that transactions, reconciliations and any supporting documentation are filed and can be recovered in accordance with Financial Control policy.
- Enhance Finance skills via an agreed and documented development plan.
