Job Description Summary
This position requires the maintenance of accounting and reporting procedures resulting in accurate product costs and manufacturing performance reporting and ensures product inventories and manufacturing assets are adequately safeguarded and financial reporting. Additionally, will occasionally interact with Global Marketing, Research and Development, and other General & Administrative functions. Promote change, as needed, to ensure compliance to GAAP/SOX, reviewing and delivering recommendations for continuous improvement, and clearly communicating relevant fiscal information to executive management. Position could potentially require limited domestic travel.
This position will report directly to the Plant Controller.

Responsibilities
Partner with the local, business unit and San Antonio/GenPact finance teams to maintain the financial integrity for all activities associated with the Sumter manufacturing facility, as well as Global IDS Quality function.
Leads all aspects of all planning, reporting, and analysis of Standard Product Costing, Manufacturing Variances, Inventory, and its component parts.
Developing standard costs and maintaining fixed assets
Ensuring reserves are calculated appropriately
Ensuring manufacturing performance is accurately reported
Maintain business visibility to all risks & opportunities in the manufacturing space
Quarterly forecasting
Partners with the Manufacturing Directors and Plant LT to optimize finance related operational decisions, ensure appropriate financial/accounting, introduce process control as needed, and safeguard company assets.
Drives continuous financial improvement through Gross Profit analysis, Inventory analysis, New Product and Discontinuance Analysis, and Spending analysis.
Ensures financial reports and records are prepared in compliance with US GAAP and BD financial policies, and financial controls are maintained and that the requirements of the Sarbanes/Oxley Act are met.
Assists both internal and external auditors with their periodic review of the BD Specimen Management financial records. Is further responsible for the implementation of agreed upon recommendations, related to areas of responsibility, resulting from the audit findings.
Responsible for maintaining capital investment strategy and reporting by partnering with project management.
To be successful in this role, you require:
- A track record demonstrating the management of growing levels of responsibility, successful business partnering at a senior level, and leading cross-functional teams.
- Consistent record of improving controls and influencing decisions through accounting knowledge and data driven financial analysis.
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, macros, VLOOKUP, etc.)
- Experience with SAP preferred.
- Superb interpersonal skills, strong collaboration and proven ability to build rapport with all business partners, and influence at all levels of management through informed discussions and presentations.
- Knowledge of corporate accounting policies and procedures, and GAAP.
- Driven, proactive and seeks continuous improvement.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, matrixed, exciting environment with strong attention to detail.
- Organized with good analytical skills, and the ability to lead projects.
- Audit experience preferred, and knowledge of SOX controls.
- Strong desire to learn and advance within the finance function.
Education and experience required:
- 5+ years of relevant dynamic accounting / finance experience in a manufacturing environment: manufacturing operations, product costing, manufacturing variances and inventory control, financial analysis, COGS, CAPEX, and budgeting & forecasting experience required.
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. A CPA, MBA, or CMA is preferred.
- Proven track record leading and serving as an effective team member in a large organization.
