Head of Finance & Commercial Performance
Location: Manchester City Centre
Salary: £797 per day (Inside IR35, PAYE) - Weekly pay
Contract: Until March 2025
Hours of working: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm
Role Purpose:
As the Head of Finance & Commercial Performance at Co-op Insurance, you'll play a pivotal role in driving our financial and commercial success. Reporting directly to the Co-op Group CFO and with a dotted line to the Managing Director, you'll be a key part of both the Co-op Insurance senior leadership team and the wider Co-op Group Finance leadership team (4 direct reports). Your mission is to lead all aspects of financial support, strategic planning, and commercial performance for Co-op Insurance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Financial Leadership: Own the entire strategic financial planning process for Co-op Insurance, from annual planning to periodic reforecasts. Ensure seamless alignment with the wider Co-op Group planning timelines and processes. Present insights and updates to Executive and Board Committees, driving informed decision-making.
- Comprehensive Financial Reporting: Lead all financial reporting requirements for Co-op Insurance, including monthly management reports, regulatory filings, and statutory reporting. Ensure that all financial activities adhere to relevant reporting standards and timelines.
- Annual Statutory Audit: Take full ownership of the annual statutory audit process, coordinating with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely delivery for Co-op Insurance Board review and approval.
- Commercial Performance Management: Develop and manage a robust commercial performance framework that includes product and channel profitability, marketing effectiveness, and strategic business insights. Ensure senior stakeholders receive timely, accurate, and actionable data to support long-term strategic goals.
- Leadership & Collaboration: As a core member of the Co-op Insurance senior leadership team, contribute to the creation of an engaging performance-driven culture. Additionally, work closely with the Group Finance senior leadership team to support the development and execution of Co-op's broader financial strategy.
- Regulatory Compliance: Serve as a Certified Manager under the FCA's Senior Managers & Certification Regime, ensuring ongoing compliance with all regulatory requirements, including fitness and propriety assessments.
What You'll Bring:
- Expertise in Finance: A qualified accountant with significant senior management experience, preferably within the Financial Services sector. You have a strong background in strategic financial planning and analysis, coupled with a deep understanding of financial reporting standards.
- Strategic & Commercial Acumen: Proven experience in driving business performance through insightful financial analysis, strategic planning, and commercial performance management. You excel in providing commercial support to key stakeholders, helping to guide strategic business decisions.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Experience working within a regulated environment, with familiarity in managing the requirements of the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
- Leadership & Influence: A strategic thinker with the ability to influence at all levels, from senior executives to Board members. You have a track record of building strong relationships and communicating effectively across the business.
