The Investment Banking Intern Analyst NE is an intermediate level position responsible for assisting clients in raising funds in the capital markets, as well as in providing strategic advisory services for mergers, acquisitions and other types of financial transactions in coordination with the Investment Banking team. The Investment Banking Intern Analyst also serves as an intermediary in trading for clients. The overall objective of this role is to act as a strategic advisor to our clients by formulating investment strategies and raising capital for clients.

Responsibilities:

• Collect and analyze company information to assist transactions; including conducting industry research; revising; and organizing financial data
• Analyze financial data and develop financial models including company valuations; discounted cash flow analysis; financing; and comparative analyses
• Create and finalize new business development presentations
• Coordinate tasks with internal and external working teams
• Prepare required internal documentation e.g. control and compliance regulations
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Job Description

The Investment Grade Credit Sector Specialist’s primary function is to act as the intermediary between institutional investors and the firm's secondary and primary trading groups for both corporate bonds and credit derivative products.

We expect that candidates would have strong credit skills and prior credit experience (minimum of 5+ years) – preferably a desk analyst/research background but time spent in capital markets, sales or trading would be considered as well.  Ideally, we are seeking someone that has existing relationships within the IG Credit market. The candidate must be focused and self-motivated and willing to bring a high degree of knowledge and energy to the business each day.  The desired candidate is expected to cover sectors within the US IG Industrials group but would also be expected to interface with the Credit Specialist teams in Europe and the trading desk in Asia.  We aim to find someone who is committed to branding a business and a franchise and harnessing all that Citi offers (sales/trading, thought leadership, syndicate and capital markets) to contribute to a top credit platform. 

Responsibilities:

• Ability to leverage existing contacts network, understand client needs, introduce the Citi offering, convince clients to adopt it and increase client satisfaction and Citi revenue
• Assist other team members in strategic positioning as well as to close transactions with various internal stakeholders (trading, structuring, sales, legal, credit and risk etc.)
• Improve footprint with the client base – which should translate into incremental sales credit and trading revenues for the various relevant trading desks
• Build a culture of responsible finance, good governance and supervision, expense discipline and ethics
• Appropriately assess risk/reward of transactions when making business decisions; demonstrating proper consideration for the firm’s reputation.

The Trader is a senior level position responsible for overseeing a trading book and managing book risk, in coordination with the Trading team. The overall objective of this role is to ensure book trades deliver on budgeted revenues, and to coordinate with key stakeholders to develop the trading franchise.

Our Markets business provides customized solutions that support the diverse investment and transaction strategies of corporations, governments, investors and intermediaries globally. The strength of our sales and trading distribution capabilities span asset classes and currencies, sectors and products including Equities, Spread Products, Commodities, Rates and Currencies with a physical presence of trading floors in almost 80 countries.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee a trading book as a Senior trader and generate revenues and manage risk for the respective business
• Build and maintain a franchise and connect with key clients
• Coordinate with Sales, Research, CMand and other organizations across Markets and Securities Services and the broader business
• Trade a book and deliver on budgeted revenues and manage book risk
• Establish and maintain key relationships to deliver trades to the desk
• Anticipate client demand in each respective product/market and facilitate large client trades
• Coordinate with desk analysts as needed and with sales to develop the franchise and manage and mentor junior traders as needed
• Leading strong governance and controls:
• Work in close partnership with control functions such as Legal, Compliance, Market and Credit Risk, Audit, Finance in order to ensure appropriate governance and control infrastructure
• Build a culture of responsible finance, good governance and supervision, expense discipline and ethics
• Appropriately assess risk/reward of transactions when making business decisions; demonstrating proper consideration for the firm’s reputation.

• Obtain and maintain all registrations/licenses which are required for your role, within the appropriate timeframe
