About the Role
Base Location: Flexible UK | We're proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, and this role is no exception. We will, however need your base 'home' location to be one of our SSE offices or depots around the UK
Salary: £38,700 - £58,100 + car / car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.
Working Pattern: Permanent Contract | Full Time | Flexible First options available
As an Design Engineer, youll work within an exciting, challenging and growing area of the SSE Enterprise business, supporting and undertaking the development of design for Electrical Distribution projects for a variety of customers, in compliance with the relevant legislation and design standards. The primary focus of this role will be to support the design of new DNO and IDNO adoptable electrical infrastructure, from LV through to 33kV, from concept through to detailed construction drawings for the SSE ICP Team.
Key Accountabilities:
- You will develop HV and LV electrical distribution networks designs, complying with the relevant NERS & G81 design guidance, appropriate Network/Systems Operator design standards and industry legislation. You will complete this in an innovative, safe and commercially viable standard against agreed milestones.
- You will be required to plan, develop and coordinated solutions to meet the needs of internal and external clients, contribute to client meetings and provide strong leadership on behalf of the Engineering Solutions team in ensuring a fully coordinated approach to design development and costing, showing strong commercial awareness.
- You will support in the management of design contracts for the development and design of your solutions to address the requirements of a project.
- You will also take ownership for driving forward key innovation projects in order to enhance the solutions which Enterprise develop in order to explore the opportunities in the emerging DE Market, identifying key challenges and creative solutions to drive growth in the business.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- A good understanding of the energy industry
- A strong understanding of the UK Electricity distribution structure and regulations
- Qualified Electrical Engineer - to HNC, degree or equivalent certification level
- Background in Electrical Network Planning & Design working within a DNO, IDNO or ICP environment, with a broad technical knowledge and experience in a similar role
- Knowledge and experience with relevant engineering legislation and industry good practice for adoptable DNO and IDNO electricity networks
