Survey Engineer required for a company who are known globally as a leading provider of subsea equipment. This is a great opportunity to join a company who are recognised for the quality of their products, and you will play an integral role in their development.

This role offers great variety as it is split between onshore and offshore work. The frequency will depend on the successful candidate and the work requirements, however this could vary anywhere between 1 week per year to a collective 5 months a year.

The successful candidate will need previous experience working with electronic engineering principles. You can come from any industry background.

You will be responsible for the preparation and testing of equipment prior to rental and post hire, including carrying out function tests and updates to software and firmware. You will also be required to work on client vessels and platforms where you will check and inspect equipment on mobilisation, helping with set up and troubleshooting to successful conclusion.

Electronic Survey Engineer Role:

Onshore:

· Preparation and inspection of equipment before and after rental

HVDC Centre: We are looking for Electrical Power Engineering students to support the power system studies to de-risk the deployment of High Voltage Direct Current transmission technologies to deliver our net-zero targets. Over the next decade, the electricity transmission network that we operate will be dramatically reshaped by HVDC to integrate massive offshore wind power to achieve net-zero. Our team of power system experts are key to enabling and de-risking this journey. We are seeking students studying electrical power engineering. This team are based in Cumbernauld.

Project Engineering: A core technical department within SSEN Transmission. Our summer placement programme will provide you with experience of working at the centre of the transition to Net Zero. You will receive training to work on multimillion pound infrastructure projects covering innovations that will allow us to meet these technological challenges. We are looking for students studying electrical, mechanical or civil engineering. This team are based in Inverness, Perth or Glasgow.

HVDC Engineering: With new renewable energy projects in the North of Scotland needing to be connected to the National Grid and the electricity transported large distances from areas of Generation to areas of Demand, HVDC is the most efficient way to do this. Our HVDC Engineering team is central to these projects and we are at the cutting edge of new HVDC Voltage Source Converter technology, having recently commissioned the Shetland HVDC Link, which completed the Caithness-Moray-Shetland HVDC project, the first Multi-terminal HVDC VSC scheme in the world outside of China. With significant projects to work on in the North of Scotland, including work on our Eastern Green Link projects (planned HVDC links from the East coast of Scotland to Northeast England) as well as a number of embedded links within SSEN Transmissions own Network in the North of Scotland, we are aiming to connect up to 10GW of renewable energy in the North of Scotland to the National Grid. This team are based in Inverness, Glasgow, Aberdeen or Perth.

Marine Engineering: A relatively new function within SSEN Transmission, established just over 2 years ago, to be ready, and indeed be a major part of the "Net Zero" race in the UK. We have an increasing portfolio of substantial Marine Installation projects for at least the next 10 years, including the installation of critical national infrastructure and its on-going protection. The team is building the capacity for "best in class" offshore cable installation projects, putting a team together to manage all aspects of marine delivery, Safety, Logistics, Vessel Assurance, and Survey support throughout the lifetime of the marine infrastructures lifespan. We are looking for students studying geosciences, construction management or logistics management. This team are based in Aberdeen or Glasgow.

You will be working for a large organisation operating across the Aberdeen area providing property maintenance solutions to a range of public buildings. This role is a long-term temporary position for a period of at least 6 months. In your role as a Property Inspector you will provide technical expertise to the wider contract management team.

Your new role

In your new role you will spend a mixture of time in the office and visiting properties across the Aberdeen area. You will inspect plant such as commercial heating and ventilation systems. In addition, you will be required to keep accurate records using various IT packages such as word, excel and email. Your Role:

• Execute installations, repairs, and planned preventive maintenance (PPMs) on commercial systems
• Diagnose defects, prepare parts lists, and estimate repair timescales
• Participate in the call-out rota for emergency response
• Adhere to Health and Safety regulations and industry best practices
• Collaborate with the field service team and support internal operational processes
• Deliver outstanding customer service and foster strong relationships with clients and colleagues

Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

• Full UK driving licence
• Relevant commercial certifications, including CODNCO1, ICPN1, TPCP1A, CIGA1, CORT1
• Experience working in commercial settings
• Additional certifications like Catering, IPAF, PASMA, and OFTEC are advantageous but not required

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious CCUS Engineer to fast-track their career development as a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) Associate, utilising skills in fluid flow, geochemical reactions, and geomechanical failure at pore scale with a specific focus on complex multi-physics modelling. The successful candidate will undertake a 36-month collaborative project between North Sea Well Engineering Limited (Norwell) https://www.norwellengineering.com/ and Robert Gordon University (School of Computing, Engineering and Technology), jointly funded by Innovate UK and Norwell. The post will be based at the company’s offices in Westhill, Aberdeenshire. As a CCUS Engineer, your responsibility will be to develop novel frameworks and models for assessing the risk of corrosion and CO2 leakage during injection and storage of CO2 in abandoned legacy wells. A multi-physics modelling approach will be employed, that accounts for geology, geochemistry, geomechanics and fluid flow, validated with experimental laboratory investigations. To further inform this multi-physics approach, the candidate will employ ab initio quantum chemistry and molecular dynamics methods using software on a dedicated cluster or supercomputer.

Norwell Engineering is part of the Elemental Energies group, a global well engineering and subsurface consultancy. Norwell provides cutting edge solutions to complex CCUS problems and geothermal energy developments, well engineering challenges associated with decommissioning and general well engineering services.

You will receive extensive practical and formal training, gain marketable skills, broaden their knowledge and expertise within an industrially relevant project, and gain valuable experience from industrial and academic mentors. PURPOSE OF POST: To take the lead role in developing a software tool for evaluating well integrity and CO2 leakage risks of CCUS projects to enable long-term storage of CO2 in abandoned legacy wells

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

• Deliver the project objectives as detailed in the KTP project workplan.
• Take a leading role in identifying, assessing and addressing project risks and challenges on an ongoing basis to ensure successful completion of the project
• Collaborate with the supervisory teams in the University and company partners to write and publish technical papers based on the project outcomes
• Maintain an up-to-date project plan and provide regular progress reports.
• Organise project technical and progress meetings
• Deliver presentations to immediate project team members and other stakeholders.
• Undertake any other duties as may be reasonably assigned by the University and company partners
• Contribute to embedding the project outcomes in teaching and learning of related engineering subjects in the University
• Contribute to the enhancement of the University research profile through publications, collaborations and community engagement

Must hold a 2.1/Merit MSc/MEng/MPhys in Oil and Gas Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or Mathematical Science

Knowledge and skills

Good knowledge of chemical and physical principles that underpin CO2 storage in subsurface formation including fluid flow, geochemical reactions, and geomechanical failure at pore scale.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required, to allow effective communication with a range of individuals from technical, academic, and business backgrounds.

Teamwork and flexibility.

Innovative, driven and willing to learn new skills.

Experience

Academic or industrial experience in CCUS or Oil and Gas.

Experience of developing software products or tools.
