• Serve as an Optical Systems Technician, responsible for one or more optical, electro-optical, and photo-optical systems.
• Design, develop, and implement operational modifications on electro-optical, photo-optical and ethernet based video control systems.
• Perform operation, maintenance, and cleaning of assigned systems and all other data acquisition-related equipment, including the work area.
• Develop and recommend new test procedures and test equipment to ensure proper utilization of maintenance facilities for the repair and/or refurbishment of complex optical, electro-optical, and photo-optical instrumentation.

• Applies computer engineering/science principles to implement comprehensive system designs that integrate hardware, software, communication systems, and networks.
• Formulates, justifies, and executes the organization’s Information Technology (IT) budget.
• Performs the full range of administrative and technical supervisory duties.
• Responsible for defining overall Information Technology (IT) architecture and Software requirements.

As an Interdisciplinary Electrical/Electronics Engineer, you will:

• Serve as the designated telecommunications specialist for WAPA's facilities.
• Be responsible for the planning and design of major multi state microwave, mobile radio systems, telephony, telemetry or fiber optic systems necessary for power operations within WAPA.
• Prepare and review designs, drawings, interfaces, and quantity estimates for telecommunication systems used throughout WAPA facilities.
• Prepare technical specifications and evaluations; perform microwave and fixed radio system path profile, antenna heights, and path budget analysis.
• Provide design and engineering consultation for coordination with the Department of Defense, Department of Energy, Department of Interior, Department of Agriculture, the National Telecommunications Information Agency (NTIA), and other entities for microwave and radio telecommunication systems.
• Recommend and review policy, procedures, guidelines, and standards for the design, installation, operations, and maintenance of telecommunication systems.
• Administer and manage WAPA's frequency spectrum program.
• Provide telecommunications related software/database development and support.

• Assist with routine steps in science studies and regulatory/compliance work.
• Support higher-graded staff in planning for program management of environmental programs.

At the GS-5 level, you will:

• Perform routine and limited assignments pertaining to the scientific missions of the organization.
• Assist senior staff, project officers, analytical staff and other staff as necessary.
• Complete developmental assignments that expand the understanding of concepts, underlying principles, and program requirements and procedures.
• Assist with summary of environmental program information data for use in preparing reports and program evaluations.
• Support higher-graded staff in planning for program management of environmental programs.
• Assist staff in preparation of materials for, and participation in, briefings with managers.
