What You'll Be Doing:

• Contribute to the development of low-level firmware for AR/VR systems and Firmware groups
• Design and implement algorithms for signal processing in AR/VR systems, with a focus on low-resource edge devices such as wearables and mobile phones.
• Collaborate on integrating various sensors commonly used in personal-computer devices, including accelerometers, gyroscopes, PPG, pressure sensors, microphones, and temperature sensors
• Actively participate in the debugging process and root cause analysis of test failures, ensuring the robustness and reliability of the signal processing functionalities

What We Are Looking For:

• Typically requires a 4 year degree and a minimum of 5 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience
• Proficient in C/C++ and Python programming languages required
• Experienced working with sensors in personal-computer devices
• Skilled in developing algorithms for low-resource edge devices, particularly wearables and mobile phones

QUALIFICATIONS:

•  Process Expert in the area of SMT or Wave soldering
• Minimum 5 years of process engineering experience or equivalent direct technical support of an electronics assembly process
• Knowledge of Process control methodologies (SPC, Cp, Cpk,)
•  Process Expert in one or more of SMT, Wave soldering, and Mechanical Assembly
•    Must have excellent communication skills, technical writing abilities, analytical skills, be a team player and able to take independent decisions related to the job function
•  At least four years of manufacturing experience in electronic manufacturing with a focus on SMT or Wave soldering
•  Knowledge of IPC documentation
• Knowledge of Six sigma and lean manufacturing

Role Summary

The Application Engineer sees it all—design, manufacturing, installation and operation of our pumps and seals at our customers’ sites in the oil and chemical industries.  In this challenging position the Application Engineer (AE) provides real-time technical support to our Lake Charles, LA customer, and provides recommendations for repairs, upgrades, and replacement equipment.  The AE is actively engaged, Monday - Friday, in troubleshooting problems and implementing solutions onsite at a nearby customer facility and will attend one monthly meeting at our repair center in Port Arthur, TX.

The Engineering Technician’s responsibilities involve performing basic tests and experiments for process engineering.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support the engineering team in the design, development, and implementation of methods, policies, and procedures for processing and manufacturing customer products to industry accepted or customer specified standards and requirements
• Collect and analyze data
• Recommend corrective action for procedural, product, process, or design deficiencies

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

The Engineering Technical Authority (ETA) is responsible for technical direction, leadership, guidance and support for a specific array of process systems within an area of responsibility, such as Upstream Processes, Downstream Processes, Fill/Finish, CIP/SIP, Utilities, HVAC, Packaging, Devices, etc. Through their team(s) of global and site technical subject matter experts, the ETA will leverage engineering expertise both in the company and industry to optimize the life cycle management of Amgen’s assets, and is accountable for performance and reliability across multiple sites.

This position is in the Drug Substance Process Systems Engineering team with an initial emphasis on capital project support for the Flexbatch DS facility at Amgen-North Carolina (ANC). Subsequent responsibilities will include end-to-end engineering support for future projects and technical global network management.

This role will include responsibilities as a process equipment engineering lead delivering on construction completion & commissioning for ANC. The individual will lead the commissioning of equipment for various unit operations as part of the project engineering team. They will be responsible for coordinating construction completion with project partners, leading commissioning & qualification functional testing, troubleshooting technical issues and ultimately delivering qualified equipment for the site.

Planning: Working with clients, as appropriate (e.g. PD, Quality, Manufacturing), develop and specify engineering standards, specifications, equipment selection and design. Develop metrics to support procurement strategies for equipment, inventory management, spares and preventative maintenance. Manage and track changes to specifications and standards, and system configuration.

Design: Ensure adherence to standards and good engineering practices. Lead design of new systems in support of projects and new technology deployment. Ensure designs optimize the total life cycle of the asset, from both a cost and effectiveness standpoint.

Construction: Use their ETA network to provide engineering support during the construction process, including responses to RFIs, resolving complex technical issues and conflicts, supporting overall project objectives.

Commissioning: Ensure commissioning and qualification standards are developed and used. Use their network to provide engineering support to commissioning and qualification.

Operations: Support development of, or approve operation procedures for the safe, efficient and effective operations of systems. Review performance data and make recommendations for improvement of system operations. Support NC/CAPA investigations related to equipment failures.

Maintenance: Support systems failure analysis, approve maintenance standards and techniques. Support and review reliability and failure data, and implement actions to improve effectiveness, and reliability of systems. Assist the sites in system troubleshooting, and take action as necessary to prevent future occurrence throughout network.

Management: Lead their technical network. Makes use of expertise at the site and corporate levels for solving problems and deploying solutions across all sites. Identify and resolve issues and conflicts. Provide mentoring of other members in their network. Ensure technical decisions for assigned systems are optimized with those managed by other ETAs. Remain current on state-of-the-art for systems for adoption of new techniques and technology within Amgen. Represent Amgen with outside firms, technical societies and regulatory bodies.

This role involves travel up to 30% including overnight stays.

Preferred location for this role is Amgen-North Carolina (Holly Springs). Other locations may be considered for exceptional candidates who are open to significant travel to ANC for project support.

· Be the point person that helps troubleshoot, track, and resolve complex Enterprise network issues.

· Provide network engineering support for the DevOps, DBA, Systems, Security and Service Desk Teams

· Manage and expand coverage of network monitoring tools such as Solarwinds, Logic Monitor, PRTG, Nagios, etc

· Improves the consistency of the environment using scripting (Python, PowerShell), Terraform, Puppet, Ansible, etc.

· Manage a fleet of offices ensuring their stability and conformity with our standards

· Maintains and enhances our IPAM (IP Address Management) platform

· Learn our Aruba Wi-Fi platform, monitor and make improvements in the US and Europe centers

· Comfortable utilizing SEIM tools such as Qradar, Splunk or Azure Sentinel to query data and help various teams troubleshoot issues.

· Participate in new office designs to help us keep track with company growth, typically 400+ employees

· Implement and support our Palo Alto Software Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN), 40+ locations.

· Work with various networking technologies including but not limited to: o Firewalls –Palo Alto, CheckPoint, AWS Security Groups

o Cisco Nexus switches – 9Ks, 7Ks, 5Ks, 3Ks, FEXs

o Load balancers and traffic managers – F5 BIGIP LTM and GTM, Akamai

o SSL VPN solutions – Palo Alto, Junos Pulse, CheckPoint, Zscaler ZPA

Basic Qualifications

· Bachelor’s Degree required from an accredited, not for profit university or college (preferably in Computer Science, Computer Technology, MIS or related field)

· A track record of commitment to prior employers

· 5+ years of relevant experience in networking not limited to: TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, QoS, SNMP, VoIP, Firewalling, Load Balancing, Wireless, ACI, Python

Preferred Qualifications And Skills

· One or more relevant certifications such as PCNSE, PCSNA, CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, CCSA, CCSE, etc.

· Supporting enterprise Wi-Fi over LAN and WAN environments (preferably Aruba)

you will provide engineering direction to execute sophisticated maintenance activities and/or to operate assigned equipment, facility, utility, and Mechanical/HVAC, Fire Protection, and Life Safe Gas Detection Systems in accordance with established guidelines and operating procedures. You will also conduct intermediate troubleshooting and employ advanced predictive technologies to identify root cause and appropriate corrective actions to diagnose or avert equipment problems. This role will be supporting the Amgen North Carolina Plant as part of the F&E Infrastructure operations department.

Independently provides and/or advises on process optimization strategies and/or troubleshooting of operational issues in the site utilities operation and Electrical systems. Applies advanced and diverse engineering principles to the design and implementation of major system modifications, experiments, process and/or capital projects. Develops, coordinates, analyzes, and presents interpretation of results for operational issues or engineering projects of significant scope and complexity.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Complete sophisticated or novel assignments requiring development of new and/or improved engineering techniques and procedures.
• Design, review, and leads mechanical/HVAC, Fire Protection, and Life Safe Gas Detection systems and subsystems focusing on safety, efficiency, reliability, and related applicable compliance with building safety codes and FM Global insurance Design Guideline requirements.
• Mechanical and HVAC systems design and design reviews for site facilities
• Develop mechanical and HVAC requirements and site specifications.
• Determine cost effective mechanical and HVAC design solutions for manufacturability.
• Collaborate effectively with technical cross-discipline to develop innovative system solutions.
• Prepare and conduct technical design reviews.
• Develop engineering policies and procedures that affect multiple organizational units.
• Supervise, coordinate and review work contractors/suppliers on an ongoing basis as well as on a project basis.
• Employ sophisticated engineering techniques and/or modifications of advanced techniques within area of engineering expertise.
• Apply knowledge of engineering principles and practices outside the area of expertise to a broad variety of assignments in related fields.
• Serve as a peer-recognized engineering technology specialist for low and medium voltage electrical systems, with overall responsibility for determining methodologies in that area.

• Have an understanding of: Maintenance and asset management systems such as Maximo, building automation system operation, navigation, and reporting, vibration monitoring and analysis, equipment sizing, selection, installation, and maintenance, ductwork and piping sizing, design, installation, and maintenance, air handling system psychrometrics, cold storage refrigeration systems, and equipment operation & maintenance (HVAC control systems, air handlers, fans, coils, humidifiers, filters and filtration, terminal devices, refrigeration equipment, compressors, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, boilers, HEPA filters, including testing & certification, fume hoods and biosafety cabinets, including testing & certification) and system and equipment troubleshooting.
• Ability to tactfully negotiate and positively influence peers and executive leadership
• Knowledge of industry trends (e.g., regulatory and compliance, technology, human performance programs, sustainability, etc.)
• Association of Energy Engineers CEM (Certified Energy Managers) is desirable.
