About the role
The College of Science and Engineering is home to the academic schools of: Chemistry, Computing and Mathematical Sciences, Engineering, Geology & Geography, and Physics & Astronomy. Teaching and research activity in these schools are supported by College Technicians covering a range of specialist areas. One such area is manufacturing of unique devices and prototypes, and leading the education of students in manufacturing techniques and Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) principles.
The role requires the full delivery of technical skills training/teaching of undergraduate students to carry out rapid prototyping, turning and milling operations, bench skills and fitting techniques. You will also support undergraduate and postgraduate project manufacture within the School of Engineering, to include extra-curricular activities, such as Formula Student and students entering external prototyping competitions. Other responsibilities also include: supervising the Engineering Manufacture Workshop for task allocation; managing workflow; providing advice and guidance; best practice procedures; and ensuring manufacture request deadlines are met.
You will be able to lead students in the School of Engineering in the design and manufacture of unique devices, to include repair, modification and construction of new and existing equipment and components, alongside the provision of specialist technical expertise. You will be able to collaborate with academic staff to design and develop technical skills training and manufacturing activities.

You will have demonstrable experience and knowledge of operating conventional and CNC engineering manufacture equipment, including vertical milling and horizontal turning operations. Overview

Our client is looking to strengthen their existing operational crews with multiple Front End and Back End Line Maintainers based on a continental shift pattern (4 on, 4 off, 12-hour days and nights) and 14 days off, every 5th week! + 18.75 days additional (Shift Swaps encouraged for flexibility AND chance to work back BH's)

IDEALLY:

• You will ideally have completed either a Mechanical/Maintenance Engineering apprenticeship or have achieved an Engineering ONC/HNC level qualification or equivalent - FMCG Heavy Industry Candidates OR alternate Apprenticeship/Time-served experience (NVQ/HGV etc) (Skilled RATE)
• Prior experience of working with power presses will be advantageous, along with experience in machining using a lathe, milling machine and surface grinder; welding experience (Tig/Mig); fitting skills including scraping; knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics, and an ability to read schematic drawings. (Skilled RATE)

Job Role:
As an Electrical Maintenance Engineer, you will be tasked for carrying out reactive, preventative, and proactive maintenance for all equipment on site.

Typical Duties will involve:

• To conduct Electrical fault finding and repairs.
• CNC and PLC fault finding and repairs
• Helps develop, implement, and monitor systems such as Preventive Maintenance, Predictive Maintenance, Reliability-Centred Maintenance, Condition-Based Maintenance, and FMEA programs.
• Support TPM plan.
• Conduct analysis and investigations using Failure Mode Analysis and Root Cause Analysis (5 Whys) on equipment failures that affect product quality, equipment uptime and plant capacity.
• Report conclusions to Maintenance Supervisor and make recommendations for improved programs and practices intended to prevent equipment failures.
• Participate in the creation and review of maintenance procedures and policies.
• Assist Facility repairs as and when required
• Support machine relocation (Disconnection and re-commissioning)
• Competent record keeping

Desirable experience

• Have to have a relevant Engineering qualification (electrical)
• Have to be experienced in a face passed manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated ability to root cause analysis/problem solving processes.
• Basic mechanical knowledge

Overview

Our client is looking to strengthen their existing shift maintenance crew with multiple front and back end mechanical maintenance engineers and a production engineer, based on a continental shift pattern (4 on, 4 off, 12-hour days and nights).

The successful candidates will be working on vertical and horizontal can-making power press equipment [cupping presses & bodymakers]. Therefore, experience working in an FMCG environment is critical.

You will be required to deliver planned preventive maintenance, machine overhaul and recovery support, and complete regulatory compliance checks across all can making power press equipment.

The candidate

• You will ideally have completed a Mechanical/Maintenance Engineering apprenticeship or have achieved an Engineering ONC/HNC level qualification or equivalent.
• You will have proven and demonstrable experience in a relevant mechanical engineering role. Prior experience of working with power presses will be advantageous, along with experience in machining using a lathe, milling machine and surface grinder; welding experience (Tig/Mig); fitting skills including scraping; knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics, and an ability to read schematic drawings.
• You must have the ability to work well in a team but also be able to manage your own workload ensuring tasks are completed within the specified timescales.

Remuneration & Benefits

• Salary: £44,000 - £53,800 per annum (dependant on experience and qualifications, skills-matrix based, PLEASE NOTE this means you will not automatically achieve the maximum remuneration, this can be discussed upon application).
