About the role
This 4-year Engineering Apprenticeship Programme will see you based at our Severnside Müller Milk & Ingredients site. You’ll be provided with a fantastic way to realise your potential and get your career off to the best possible start. You will study towards a recognised qualification, earn a good salary, develop new skills, and gain invaluable experience. Your key responsibilities as an Engineering Apprentice will include:

- Asset Management: keeping Manufacturing machinery maintained, managing processes, filling/packing, and site cleaning operations
- Involvement in Continuous Improvement projects, project management, or tests and trial activities
- Fault finding and quick action to meet food safety standards
- Being part of a team striving to achieve the highest quality products
- Highlighting concerns and ensuring products or volumes meet the agreed requirements and targets

This Apprenticeship combines technical training, academic study, and work-based learning, and covers all the fundamental Engineering topics you need to know, such as:

- Electrical principles and maintenance
- Mechanical maintenance to keep the factories running efficiently
- Automation

This programme is delivered in partnership with our training provider, Bridgwater & Taunton College (BTC), where you’ll spend 40 weeks of your first year with Müller at their state-of-the-art training facility. From years 2 – 4, you’ll spend a combined 36 weeks with BTC, with the remainder of the time spent back at Severnside site to embed your learning with our team of Engineering experts, whilst continuing to work with our training provider partner to complete your apprenticeship.

Job Overview:

An opportunity has arisen for a skilled Geotechnical Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in geotechnical projects, ensuring quality and efficiency in all aspects of site investigations and design.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design, supervise, and manage site investigations, including cost estimation and procurement of subcontractor services.

- Proficiency in logging soil and rock according to current British Standards.

We’re recruiting … Engineering Technician

We are recruiting for an Engineering Technician to join our Blow Moulding Department Severnside.

The purpose of this role is to provide safe front line reactive maintenance, and actively identify root cause and bring equipment back into service as quickly as possible. They will also continuously seek and identify cost effective improvements to site assets and equipment, improving efficiency and reliability.

Location – Severnside

Shift Patterns : 4 on 4 off (2 days/2nigths) 7am/7pm – 7pm/7am

Contract – Full Time – Perm

Role & Responsibilities


- To ensure effective handover of information across shift.
- Uses PMS to support prioritisation and problem solving (RCFA).
- To diagnose faults and to test , repair and maintain Mechanical / Electrical equipment.
- To observe, recognise and report on machinery or component defects or symptoms of impending failure and provide CMMS data.
- Contact OEM's and other suppliers for technical support as and when required and expedite parts when not available on site.
- Lead shift based problem solving where corrective actions aren't clear.
- Working as ONE TEAM with First Line Response Technician.
- Coaching of operators with asset care tasks.
- Identify Improvements and implement within the OE framework.
- Identify life cycle issues and raise these with possible recommendations.
- Use and support simple 5WHY OE techniques / RCA techniques through to 100 year fix.
- Use and support departmental 5s programmes for workshops and stores.
- Continuous transfer of knowledge and best practice.
- Has an active role to play in continuously improving our business.
- Encourage engineering based OE projects.
- Support the Site roadmaps for Quality / H S / EMS / Engineering / Autonomous maintenance.
- To have opportunities to deliver own ideas to improve our business.
- Support improvement activities / events within facilities and engineering owned areas.
- Understands the impact of own actions and others on achieving site/business OGSM.
- Aware of how current performance impacts the bottom line.
- Ability to deliver on the job training (show and tell) to new colleagues.
- Health and safety of self and others.

Skills and Experience
