About the Opportunity:
We are looking for an Electrical Engineer to join us as a key member of our highly technical reseach and development team. As part of the Oxford Instruments Group, X-ray Technology (XT) is a leading global manufacturer of world class high-performance X-ray sources. Our customers – Industry leaders in X-ray system applications – greatly value the quality, performance, and cost-effective solutions that we provide. Oxford XT products address applications in analysis, spectroscopy, gauging, and imaging. Our portfolios can be adapted to the individual requirements of our customers. They contribute worldwide to new insights and solutions in many areas of science, research, and development. This position is based full-time on site at the X-Ray Technology office in Scotts, Valley, CA.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate in our dynamic and flexible Oxford X-ray Technology R&D team
- Solve complex problems, design, develop, and implement analog-digital circuits and systems for the control and processing of our sealed glass X-ray tubes
- Design solutions for high voltage applications associated with X-ray generation
- Implement and optimize interface solutions for hardware and software controls and automation
- Development of firmware for microprocessor and/or FPGA control
- Support of entire life cycle: from ideation to volume production and obsolescence
- Construct and commission rapid prototyping
- Address Voice of the Customer (VOC)
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors of Science (e.g. electrical engineering, physics, chemistry) and several years of work relevant electrical engineering experience
- Working knowledge of PCB layout, circuit design, numerical solutions, and fluent in SW tools such as PADS, Altium, ORCAD, Cadence PSpice, MatLab, Simulink, LabView, LabWindows
- Expertise in reading, editing, and generating circuit diagrams, schematics and circuit mechanicals
- Solid experience using the document control system for engineering change orders, notifications
- Enthusiasm for physical sciences
- Self-driven, emotionally invested, and able to work with diverse teams
- Excellent written and spoken English skills
- Strong industrial experience with high voltage and high vacuum hardware and electronics.
- Experience with automation hardware, firmware for X-ray source manufacture.
- Hands on experience with processing and assembly equipment such as furnaces, pyrometry, metrology tooling, welding (TIG, resistance, laser), brazing, high voltage conditioning, flux and focal spot measurement.
- Experience with glass to metal fabrication and equipment and fixtures
- Experience with vacuum and forming gas induction heating techniques and design of tooling.
Desired Qualifications:
- Participation in research and development, from ideation to a released product.
- Working knowledge of data acquisition, programmable logic, human interface device, automation hardware and software.
Salary: In accordance with California law, the expected salary for this position is between $115,000
- $130,000. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
