Duties/Responsibilities:
GS-07 Level
- Uses prescribed methods to perform specific, and limited work assignments that are normally minor phases of a broader assignment of a higher-grade engineer.
- Uses computers/computer software such as information management programs, computer aided design and drafting (CADD) programs, and project tracking programs to assist higher grade engineers in solving engineering problems and facilitate the work.
- Assists in coordinating projects with engineers in other disciplines or with architects.
- Complies with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures and performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment.
GS-09 Level - Participates in the performance of O&M engineering involving design and construction that encompasses the maintenance, repair, upgrade, and operation of infrastructure facilities, including utility systems, utilizing a professional knowledge of civil engineering.
- Provides civil engineering support to trades and crafts shops.
- Coordinates projects with other engineers in other disciplines or with architects. Keeps abreast of emerging technologies to ensure programmed development will not prematurely become obsolete.
- In conjunction with the primary duty of maintenance engineering, on a less frequent basis performs work in the construction management, design, and/or programming/base development functions.
- Complies with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures and performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment.
GS-11 Level - Monitors and manages projects for new construction, renovations, and improvements to real property facilities and maintains surveillance over construction contractors utilizing a professional knowledge of civil engineering and knowledge of other engineering disciplines to ensure overall compliance with contracted specifications, schedules, etc.
- Assists in planning and design process for new construction, renovations, and improvement projects for real property facilities and utility systems utilizing a professional knowledge of civil engineering.
- Evaluates/recommends programs and development plans and advocates for project requirements. Performs work in facilities operations and maintenance (O&M) functions. Provides consulting services and project coordination.
- Collects data and evaluates factors which affect the application of concepts, principles, theories, and methods required to observe, examine, measure, analyze, map, and describe physical and technical features and phenomena.
- Complies with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures and performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment.
GS-12 Level - Performs planning and design work for substantial multi-phase new construction, renovations, and improvement projects for real property facilities, including utility systems, utilizing a professional knowledge of civil engineering.
- Manages projects for new construction, renovations, and improvements to real property facilities and maintains surveillance over construction contractors utilizing a professional knowledge of civil engineering and knowledge of architecture and other engineering and disciplines to ensure overall compliance with contracted specifications, schedules, etc.
- Plans, programs, budgets, and executes required projects in support of assigned programs. Performs work in facilities operations and maintenance (O&M) functions. Provides consulting services and project coordination.
