The role
As a Package Manager, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will have the opportunity to join our business and be part of delivering world class engineering support services to the Royal Navy.
Day-to-day, you'll be required to co-ordinate and manage the planning, estimating, delivery, close out and archiving of planned Fleet Time Support Period (FTSP) work packages, unplanned work (UPW), Alterations & Additions (A&As), Deployed Support Periods (DSP) and Docking Essential Defect Survey (DEDS) periods.
- Act as the main point of contact for the overall management of programmed and un-programmed work packages, producing schedules and working with relative stakeholders including the Class Output Management team (COM) and ships' staff.
- Chair and facilitate FTSP service provider meetings including take-on, plan of the day, weekly progress and close-out meetings.
- Identify and de-conflict other work on board to ensure success of the FTSP/UPW/DEDS/DSP & A&A's without detriment to the whole ship's programme.
- Sub-contractor management and liaison with customers and suppliers.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.
Essential experience of the Package Manager
- An understanding of project management principles (Prince 2 / APM / Lean Six Sigma).
- Excellent teamwork, problem solving, real time decision making, interpersonal and communication skills are required, along with the drive and enthusiasm to work in a challenging role within a busy and highly successful team.
- Computer literacy skills essential, Microsoft packages (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint).
- An understanding of contracts and financial controls (desirable).
Qualifications for the Package Manager
- An HNC/HND in an Engineering/Technical subject, or equivalent experience in an engineering role.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
