Key Responsibilities:

• Perform planned preventive maintenance (PPM) on electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems to ensure optimal functionality and prevent breakdowns.
• Carry out routine inspections and checks on critical systems and equipment, identifying issues before they arise.
• Troubleshoot and repair a wide range of equipment and systems in commercial environments, responding to both scheduled maintenance and emergency breakdowns.
• Interpret and work from technical drawings and blueprints to effectively maintain and repair systems.

Requirements:

• Electrical Qualifications (e.g., 18th Edition, City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent).
• Proven experience in electrical maintenance with solid working knowledge of HVAC and plumbing systems.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical schematics.
• Experience in delivering PPM and maintaining comprehensive records of maintenance activities.
• Full UK driving license.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Are you an experienced and skilled Maintenance Electrician or Electrical Supervisor looking for a new opportunity? Working closely with a team of design engineers and CAD technicians, you will carry out conceptual and detailed design of permanent and temporary structures and equipment related to the construction of tower systems, bridges and complex structures.
You will prepare method statements, design and prepare static analyses using FEA programmes, prepare detailed calculations, sketches and drawings using Autocad. You will be involved at site level to assist in lifting and moving operations. This vacancy offers a hybrid working solution.

National Highways are recruiting a Senior Structures Engineer on a permanent basis to work from our Wakefield or Darlington office. The role will provide technical expertise in the Development of Highway Structure Renewal Schemes. You will be leading the development of structures renewal schemes (Bridges and other infrastructure) reviewing asset needs, producing option reports for structure maintenance and developing preliminary design documentation. The role may involve working unsociable hours.

What you’ll be leading on

Lead the development of feasibility studies for improvements and/or renewals, including the compiling and checking of relevant documents, evidence and options for value management, taking into account new techniques, materials, buildability, and costs.

Develop technical briefs provided to external consultants/contractors for scheme development works and manage the delivery of those briefs.
Provide structures technical support in regards to third party / customer queries or to other National Highways asset areas such as Roads, Drainage, Technology etc.
Provide structure technical support in relation to reactive measure such as bridge strikes, parapet strikes including liaison with Service Delivery colleagues to make safe / enact repairs.

To be successful

Structural / Civil Engineer with appropriate experience or Incorporated Engineer.
Experience in Highway Structures management, assessment and design.
Working knowledge of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) standards, methods of working & Specification for Highway Works.
Experience in highway construction and delivery methods.
Knowledge of Construction Design Management 2015 and associated duties.

Your new role

Working within our Abnormal Loads team in Darlington, you’ll provide helpdesk support to National Highways stakeholders in the operation and use of the ESDAL system. You’ll assist in supporting data maintenance and upgrade tasks for data held within the ESDAL system. You’ll also provide an interface between user groups and the ESDAL technical team.

What you’ll be leading on

Register new ESDAL users with the Helpdesk and set up user accounts.
Act as first point of contact for ESDAL users and to deal with service enquiries in line with service level agreements and documented processes.
Support a team of Helpdesk Engineers and escalate any complex issues to them.
Liaise with the Technical Support Engineer / ESDAL software team where necessary to resolve user enquiries and provide user input for upgrades and improvements.
Maintain data sets within ESDAL to ensure they are kept current, using data sets provided by 3rd parties, under guidance of the Helpdesk Engineers.
Support the delivery of high levels of customer service.
Promote ESDAL to user groups to help grow user numbers.
