This Principal Software Engineer position works out of Alameda, CA location.
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Principal Software Engineer to lead software architecture and the design of subsystems and contributes to the development of new principles and concepts. You will also be expected to mentor and guide junior engineers, ensuring that they are equipped with the necessary skills to succeed in their roles.
What you’ll do
Demonstrate expert knowledge and proficiency in the complete software development process; leads and is accountable for the software architecture and interfaces for all features of a subsystem.
Define software design architecture for a subsystem, identifying features, components and their internal and external interactions.
•Define system level design and technology specific implementation patterns drawing upon industry best practices.
Define third party software component/integration strategy.
Define design patterns, coding styles, software development environment, unit testing environment, integration testing environment and performance testing environment for all features in a subsystem.
Define the future state roadmap of CI/CD, third party component management, and cybersecurity design for a subsystem.
Define system wide architecture for CI/CD, deployment, networking, and security.
Collaborate in the architecture definition for test automation, hardware and external interface simulation.
Define system wide hardware and external interface simulation architecture.
Provide overall technical leadership support in use case analysis, feature definition, user needs and functional and non-functional requirements.
Define comprehensive software design architecture for a subsystem.
Author’s architecture description document, and high-level design documents.
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
10 years of relevant work experience with a bachelor’s degree in a related field, or 8 years of relevant experience with a master’s degree in a related field.
Expert experience in designing and developing complex software systems.
Demonstrated ability in people management.
Expert knowledge in modern programming languages such as C/C++/C# or Python & agile methodologies.
Expert level of understanding of test-driven methodologies.
Expert level of knowledge with continuous integration & continuous development (CI/CD).
Demonstrated success in technical proficiency, creativity, and independent thought.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Advanced ability to develop & design at the feature-level.
Expert level understanding of design patterns.
Strong analytical & problem-solving skills.
Ability to plan and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Evolves the architecture to support future requirements and defines its service level agreements (SLAs).
Lead the technical excellence of the system and creates plans to mitigate outages.
Good understanding of software development methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, or Kanban.
Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Strong leadership and mentorship skills, with a proven track record of leading and mentoring junior engineers.
