our client is a small independent structural design consultancy based in Norfolk and have been in operation for more than 10 years. They are run by experienced chartered engineers who have been working in the structural engineering industry in East Anglia for a number of years.

Due to increasing workload and a desire to build and expand the company they are looking to hire a
senior / principal structural design engineer. You will get experience working on a wide range of structural engineering designs in all major design materials including steel/ RC/ masonry timber etc. You will work on buildings and structures projects in a wide range of sectors both onshore and offshore. Your role will involve both hand and computer generated structural analysis and design.

At present their senior technical team includes two Directors and a Senior Principal Engineer. This structure offers significant opportunities for the right individual to become an integral part of their business and contribute to its future growth. Career advancement is a real prospect, with the potential to rise to the position of Associate and possibly Director, depending on experience and performance. There is also long-term potential for the right candidate to become a Partner in the business.

The company will provide ongoing mentorship, training and support in order to get chartered (if not already completed) and to have a long and rewarding career in structural engineering design. Unfortunately this company do not have the ability to sponsor candidates who will require a visa either now or in the future. for this company you will either need a driving licence or be will to get one within 6 months as you will be expected to go on client and site meetings from time to time.

The role will include

- Preparation of structural analysis and design calculations and reports for complex structures in steel, reinforced concrete, timber and masonry.
- Conducting structural condition surveys, generating reports, and developing remedial work schemes.
- Project management of own projects, and managing more junior staff to meet project requirements from initial client enquiry and fee proposal preparation stage through to preliminary design, detailed design, drawing and specification preparation, delivery and project completion.
- Business management related duties, such as QMS compliance, auditing etc
- Roads and drainage design experience would be advantageous.
- Offshore structural design experience preferred but not essential.

As well as a good basic salary of between £40k and £55k (depending on experience) you will also receive: 25 days per annum plus UK bank holidays (additional holiday accrued based on a time served basis up to a maximum of 30 days per annum), Pension, annual performance related bonus, work related travel cost reimbursement.

The Post Holder will have a minimum three years experience post qualification in the commissioning, maintenance, calibration and repair of a wide range of medical diagnostic and therapeutic devices.

He/She will also be responsible for their own work and monitoring Contractors (in the CE Workshop Managers absence), mentoring junior engineers and representing Clinical Engineering in Trust projects.

Provide specialised clinical technical services for preventative maintenance, servicing, inspection and repair to a wide range of complex and patient-critical medical devices and laboratory equipment.

Communicate with clinical users and laboratory staff to gain a clear understanding of the nature of problems with equipment. Assess the seriousness and implications of the problem and respond appropriately to the urgency of the user request.
Undertake advanced fault-finding. Apply suitable fault finding techniques to diagnose problems, including those beyond the scope of manufacturer supplied information. Report novel fault conditions to manufacturers. Exercise judgement to determine the causes of faults in devices with multiple complex and inter-related systems (e.g. electronic, computer and mechanical systems), which may be due to user error, equipment failure or environmental issues (e.g. temperature, RF interference).

Check that equipment performs to manufacturer’s specification.

Carry out calibration, quality control, safety, commissioning and acceptance testing.

Using technical and clinical experience, identify potentially hazardous symptoms and faults when in clinical areas or in talking to clinical staff.
Advise on equipment specification, evaluation and selection

Senior Engineer

Are you an experience Senior Engineer or Sub Agent? Are you actively looking for a new role? Then please read on!

I am currently on the lookout for a Senior Engineer to join a Water Treatment project near Tunbridge Wells. Within your role, you will provide assistance to the Site Manager providing technical inpt, coordinating design and temporary works.

Duties:

• Temporary works coordinator, ensuring all training is kept up to date and attending all internal temporary works forums
• Responsbile for all temporary works mangement on site
• Ability to review designs from subcontractors to ensure they are in line with other designs and permanent works
• Maintaining the temporary works register
• Being able to assess temporary works supervisors as well as appointing and managing them
• Assisting in mainting drawing files, register and site filing system
• Liasing and working closely with the design department
• Technical reviews of subcontractors method statements, ITPs and programmes
• Providing technical support to the Site Foreman and Site Manager
• Ensure all works are constructed to a good quality
• Lifting Appointing person duties are also preferred but not essential

Essential Qualifications:

• HNC in Civil Engineering or BTEC National

Desirable Qualifications:

• First Aid
• SSSTS
• CSCS Supervison Card
• EUSR
