We are now looking for an experienced developer to join our Business Information Systems team as a Senior Business Systems Engineer on a full-time, permanent basis. You will help with the development, customisation, integration and maintenance of the Oracle E-Business Suite platform (Financials, Payroll, HRMS), an integrated enterprise-wide system that underpins the University's core business and supports its strategic plan.

You will deliver solutions that exploit existing and new system functionality to facilitate improved business processes. The expectation is that you will be an experienced programmer in Oracle E-Business Suite related technologies, specifically OA Framework, Oracle Workflow, Oracle Alerts, PL/SQL and XML Publisher, and proven functional experience of the Financials, Payroll and HRMS suite of modules within Oracle eBusiness Suite platform.

You will be provided with training, mentoring and development to ensure you acquire all of the skills and experience you need to be successful in this role. The training may cover core Oracle technology, as well as tools that are specific to the Oracle E-Business Suite application.

Your new role
As a Senior Engineer you will be working closely with a Principal Engineer and Civil Engineering graduate as well as the Structural Engineering team. As you progress, more informed commercial awareness and client relationship management will be important elements to the role.
As your civil design team further grows, mentoring and checking the work of fellow engineers and technicians will be key.

What you'll need to succeed

• A minimum of a BEng in Civil Engineering and 7+ years' UK design consultancy experience.
• Conversance with AutoCAD, Civil3D/PDS, Info/Microdrainage is a requirement, although there will be scope to improve your skills with them.
• Experience with Section Agreements 278, 38, 104 and 185.
• Hands-on approach, with a desire to remain engaged in design, project management and delivery.
• Good organisation, communication, and presentation skills.
• Chatership isn't a requirement however being on the pathway to CEng is desirable

Job Description

As the Senior Civil & Structural Engineer your primary responsibility is to lead the delivery of a wide range of Civil & Structural services in both Temporary and Permanent Works. You will oversee the design of Permanent Works for buildings, highways, housing, and infrastructure, as well as Temporary Works design, both above and below ground. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of Civil & Structural services in both Temporary and Permanent Works.

Your new role
Your new role will see you joining the existing civil engineering team of 12 as a Senior Civil Engineer. Preparing drainage and highway designs in accordance with relevant design codes and best practice SuDS Design principles will be a daily responsibility. Carrying out the production of infrastructure design to influence and develop master planning using your existing knowledge will also be also an element of your new role.


You will also be responsible for the day-to-day management of graduate engineers and technicians, checking their designs and drawings and aiding their continued development. Depending on your level of progress, the opportunities to further your career and progress to Principal Engineer are absolutely available and with the regular support of Directors your expertise will skyrocket.


What you'll need to succeed
In order to succeed you will require a minimum of around 7 relevant years of industry experience in the UK, demonstrating regular contribution to the design of local highways and drainage infrastructure. Though not essential, it is highly desirable that you will be a Chartered Member of either the ICE or IStructE, and as a minimum requirement are on the path to gaining these professional qualifications.


Design software experience with AutoCAD, Microdrainage/Infodrainage, Civils 3D/PDS are all highly desirable and will be needed to succeed.


What you'll get in return
In return you will receive a competitive salary, in line with your market experience in the range of £45,000 - £55,000. On top of this, you will receive two annual bonuses; one in Summer and the other over the Christmas period to reward your dedication throughout the year, totalling into the £1,000's.
