Undergrad Intern - Engineering

As a Reliability Engineer Intern, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and performance of critical assets that directly support clinical and commercial manufacturing of Amgen’s biologics portfolio. You will work closely with our experienced engineering team to analyze and enhance the reliability of systems, identify maintenance efficiency levers through use of lean six sigma concepts (e.g. VSM, DMAIC, FMEA etc), develop and deploy risk assessments framework and tools, and implement improvements. This internship is designed to provide valuable insights into real-world reliability engineering practices and contribute to the success of our organization.
Project might involve doing one or more of the following:
- Facilitate reliability centered maintenance assessments, spares design and inventory optimization, vendor single point fail risks assessments in collaboration with SMEs to apply six sigma methodologies for improving maintenance strategies, and implementation
- Develop & Deploy Advanced analytics along with Engineering SME for predicative analytics on asset performance
Key learnings for staff in this role are applications of reliability centered maintenance strategies, condition-based maintenance techniques, and good engineering practices, data science applications, advanced analytics, and project management capabilities for Reliability Engineering projects.
- Soft skills learnings include – Working in diverse teams, Influencing teams, Decision making
- Developing expertise in end-to-end lifecycle management and the strategic analysis involved in making business plans
- Developing a strong understanding of Operations including: drug development, manufacturing, global planning, and associated financials
- Engaging and learning from senior management
- Further refining public speaking and presentation skills

Basic Qualifications
Amgen requires that all individuals applying for an undergrad internship or a co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:
- 18 years or older
- Currently enrolled in a full-time Bachelor’s Degree program from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent
- Completion of one year of study from an accredited college or university prior to the internship commencing
- Enrolled in a full-time Bachelor’s degree program following the potential internship or co-op assignment with an accredited college or university
- Must not be employed at the time the internship starts
- Student must be located in the United States for the duration of the internship OR co-op
Preferred Qualifications
- Majoring in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math or related fields
- Data science/Analytics, Engineering or sciences - Data Analysis: Collect and analyze data and trends related to asset performance, spares inventory optimization based on failure frequency and usage, and potential areas for improvement.
- Root Cause Analysis: Investigate and determine the root causes of failures or performance issues and propose corrective actions, taking into consideration the impact on spare parts availability.
- Working in teams: Interpersonal and influencing skills to drive progress
- Continuous Improvement: Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives, offering insights and recommendations to enhance overall product reliability and spares management efficiency.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of reliability tests, analysis results, spare parts optimization strategies, and inventory management for future reference.

The base pay range for this opportunity in the U.S. is $24.70 - $28.30 per hour.
