An exciting opportunity has arisen for our Temporary Staffing Bank as an ICT Service Desk Engineer within the Digital Services Directorate. We offer a dynamic reactive environment where you will support a wide range of applications, IT hardware and system users. We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated individual to a role which will involve you tackling calls assigned to you by the ICT Service Desk and either resolving the issue or progressing it through to third line support. It’s interesting, varied work which will enable you to build up an in-depth knowledge of most of our Trust applications. You will be expected to install and configure PC’s, printers and other IT hardware/software to Trust standards.
The successful applicant will join a team of engineers and will report to the ICT Technical Operations Manager.
You will be educated to GCSE A-level (or equivalent) in relevant subjects and have a minimum of 3+ year’s relevant experience in an IT environment. You will also have good interpersonal skills & the ability to communicate with users in non-technical terms.
The role will be based at the Hillingdon Hospital, Mount Vernon Hospital and some community based clinics as and when required. The role will be 37.5 hours per week mon-fri. Please note this vacancy may close before its closing date subject to change.
• To ensure that the Hospital's Information Infrastructure - particularly end-user I.T. equipment and software applications (eg: PCs, printers, VDUs) - is provided and maintained in a manner consistent with the Hospital's 24hr/day 365days/yr requirement for efficient & effective Information Services;
• To contribute, in conjunction with the ICT Technical Operations Manager and the Head of IT, to the development of appropriate disaster recovery plan for the Hospital's IT Infrastructure, and participate in regular testing of efficiency & effectiveness, of those plans;
• To implement or supervise, in consultation with other members of the Team, all connections of IT equipment to the Hospital's communications networks in order to ensure the integrity of the Hospital's Information Infrastructure and compatibility with the Hospital's Information policies;
• To manage and implement efficiently & effectively the hospital's hardware maintenance procedures, and to contribute to the maintenance of the IT inventory register.
• To contribute to Trust I.T. projects as and when appropriate;
• To co-operate with the Occupational Health Dept. to ensure that the installation and use of all Hospital IT equipment is in accordance with relevant Health & Safety Legislation

Job Summary
• Supports, in collaboration with other members of the Information Technology Team, the Hillingdon Hospital Information Technology Infrastructure in order to ensure the integrity, availability, security and efficient use of the Hospital's Information Resources.
• Provides technical support to end-users responding to ICT Service Desk calls that cannot be "talked through" by telephone
• The commissioning & installation of end-user IT equipment and application software (eg: PCs, printers, mobile devices, etc.) as directed by the ICT Technical Operations Manager
Main Tasks and Responsibilities

• To accurately record and register new IT equipment
• To ensure that all PC’s and software applications within the Hospital are located and/or protected in such a way as to prevent unauthorised access to the Hospital's Information Infrastructure;
• To support other members of the I.T. Team in achieving team goals;
• To support new and in flight projects across all sites ie telephony/desktop refresh/application roll out
• Works towards set KPI’s, tasks and objectives
• Ensure all service requests and ICT Service Desk systems are kept up to date with the current job status and Trust user contact
• Supports the ICT Technical Operations Manager by undertaking as and when required site visits, completing the relevant site and customer documentation also updating IT Department support tool;
• Accurately inputs data into the ICT Service Desk and IT Department support tool contributing to improving data quality and customer satisfaction
Key Working Relationships
• Required to maintain constructive relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
• Participate in relevant internal and external working groups/projects, services, and initiatives which may be highly complex, sensitive, political, and contain contentious information with the aim of providing information and analytical advice to the teams.
• Work with members of the team to develop and implement project data collection systems that will provide accurate and timely data.
• Communicate information, risks, issues and dependencies, including briefings and reports to Project teams, sponsors and a range of internal and external staff.
Human Resources
• Participate in the recruitment process of support staff and assist with the support and training of induction of new staff.
• Delivers briefings / on-the-job training in own area of expertise to own team and other members of the ICT Directorate, such as new procedures and sharing best practice from NHS Digital.
