We are looking for an Automation Engineer II to join the Nordson EFD team. In this role you will be responsible for development, support and maintenance of automated production equipment including electrical panel design and some programming of PLC and HMI systems. Must have proven ability to prioritize, plan and execute multiple projects independently and must perform functions to provide automation engineering and technical support, management, and execution of small to large projects/assignments from initial concept to final closeout.
How YOU will make an impact:
- Work within engineering and project team for new or modify existing automated machinery to automate manufacturing processes.
- Coordinate with other engineers and manufacturing/assembly personnel to ensure design intent and cost effectiveness of production are achieved.
- Work individual project budgets and schedules and routinely report progress.
- Design electrical systems for custom automated machinery including specified electrical components.
- Create manuals, training documentation, spare part lists, and engineering documentation for newly established automated equipment/processes.
- Support maintenance with troubleshooting and repairs for automated systems.
Qualifications To Be Successful:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical/computer engineering, Automation Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in working with automated equipment and systems.
- At least 1 year of experience with electrical design
- Ability to coordinate with outside suppliers.
- Strong problem-solving skills, hands on individual with the ability to multitask.
- Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to communicate with all levels of personnel.
- Must have the ability to shift priorities according to changes in department/facility needs and be open to different ideas/approaches.
Preferred:
- Hands on experience with instrumentation and controls equipment including PLCs, HMIs, and networking equipment.
- Experience in PLC and HMI programming.
