Position Summary

Do you enjoy developing, influencing, and implementing engineering strategies and standards to improve project planning, execution, and completion?  Are you someone that is looked to as a change agent in bringing teams together for process, packaging, and building/site improvements?  If so, keep reading!  As the Director of Engineering for Wine & Spirts Operations, you will lead teams of engineers and be responsible for multi-million dollar division wide projects across large production sites and manage capital plans to deliver against key business objectives of growth, revenue, product quality, and operational efficiencies.  While providing strategic, as well as day to day leadership and technical guidance to the project engineering organization. You are a natural collaborator bringing internal and external cross functional resources together, ensuring alignment with key stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Portfolio leadership of all aspects of engineering projects to meet capital plan commitments, manage priorities, and maintain key stakeholders aligned and communicated.

• Ensure the engineering project management team understands and meets capital plan commitments, manage priorities, and maintain key stakeholders aligned and communicated.

• Ensure team develops and maintains all project documentation including project plans, status reports, issues, risks, costs, schedules, and quality components across project portfolio, and project documentation is well communicated throughout the lifecycle of projects.

• Collaborate with cross functional team and business stakeholders to manage project scope decisions, critical financial decisions, and change controls, escalate when necessary.

• Manage vendor relationships, performance, and project expectations.

• Responsible for leading the planning, justification, and execution of Capital Projects in project portfolio, in conjunction with Director of Engineering Support Services.

• Support contract development and execution for all projects in project portfolio in conjunction with Director of Engineering Support Services.

• Develop a culture of high performance, lead the professional development of team members and guide engineering colleagues on best practices

• Lead change management efforts to continuously improve existing project management processes and better integrate engineering into business unit decision making

• Lead capital engineering managers and engineers to meet project and portfolio commitments.

• Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations. If accountable for the work of others, responsible for ensuring their understanding and compliance.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or equivalent discipline

• 8+ years of experience managing engineering, maintenance and/or operations related projects (i.e. yields, quality, OEE, automation, facilities, compliance, etc.) in a manufacturing environment

• 5+ years’ experience of developing and managing high performance teams

• Travel: 25-50%, visiting wineries, distilleries and vendors

• Demonstrated ability to project manage multi-million dollars, complex and multi-phase projects

• Strong analytical skills, planning skills, and ability to prioritize work effectively

• Proficient in at least 1 of these 4 areas of engineering: Process Engineering, Packaging Engineering, Controls/Automation, or Building Construction

• Excellent communications and influencing skills

• Results oriented change agent

• Problem solver

Summary of Role:

Our Fab 9 Team, Essex Junction, VT, is seeking a Senior Process Engineer. The individual selected for this position will be part of the Surface Prep Manufacturing Engineering organization with primary responsibilities focused on support and continuous improvement of 200mm semiconductor equipment.

Essential Responsibilities include:

• Develops and modifies process formulations, methods and controls to meet quality standards.

• Create, analyze and review technical charts.

What You’ll Bring

• A minimum of 12 years of experience in designing facility mechanical systems including water, chilled water, wastewater, HVAC, cooling towers/condensers, boiler/steam, hot water, or compressed air (manufacturing facility experience preferred)
• 2+ years' experience as an engineering manager or mechanical department manager preferred.
• Director, principal, or regional leader, experience is a plus.
• An understanding of refrigeration design with ammonia, freon, CO2, dehumidification, and other custom plumbing systems for manufacturing facilities in the food, beverage, consumer goods and life science sectors (preferred)
• A solid foundation in interpersonal dynamics, mentorship, leadership, and outstanding communication and organizational skills.
• A proven proficiency in the art of technical writing, ensuring clear and concise documentation.
• Expertise in employing industry-standard tools such as Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Bluebeam, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel to craft innovative solutions.

Job Description

The Mechanical Technician will be responsible for executing test plans provided by the Mechanical Engineering team.  The individual will assist engineering team to create prototypes and conduct prototype rework. The individual will be required to ensure lab equipment is calibrated and purchase components needed for prototyping.This position will require you to be in office 5 days out of the week.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Execute test plans as instructed by Mechanical Engineering Team
• Record and report result in a neat, concise and accurate manner
• Participate in prototype assembly builds; and procure necessary components such as glue, tape, screws, and tools
• Use of shop equipment (3D printers, laser cutter, lathe, mill, various standard shop tools) to create test fixtures and mechanical parts
• Use of various test instrumentation including Instron, CMM, polariscopes, calipers, drop testing equipment, microscopes, environmental chambers, tumble tester

What you will do

As a member of the Sustainability Infrastructure Services (SIS) Team, the Engineering Manager will support and manage engineering tasks. The manager will support a engineering team to participate in the design-build and SIS infrastructure projects as a Facility Management/Building Engineering subject matter expert providing support to the Site Customer Business Managers.

You will design conceptual solutions and operating plans for our sites. You are to have advanced understanding of energy management, security fire systems, building automation systems and services, operations and maintenance, facilities management, and are to be able to combine these capabilities to solve critical customer needs over the long term.

You will oversee contractors of medium to large complex commercial, industrial, institutional building construction projects from financial close through commissioning and start-up of operations. This is a site-based position that requires the ability to travel up to 50%.

How you will do it

• Possesses a strong understanding of the regulatory, legislative and business environment, as well as procurement requirements unique to facility management

• Participates in design meetings to provide specialized engineering and energy advice to the CBM during the design and construction phase of the project

• Review operational site for operational efficiency opportunities (engineering, energy, and operations)

• Understand contract terms and conditions, specifically with regards to KPIs and payment mechanism

• Understand the Performance Based contract terms and obligations

• Development of maintenance operating procedures, standard operating procedures, and emergency operating procedures

What we look for

• Completion of post-secondary education in engineering; Mechanical Engineering degree, Electrical Engineering degree, or technical diploma is preferred. A combination of education and experience in construction and facility management will be considered.

• You must have advanced understanding of building HVAC system, energy management, security fire systems, building automation systems and services, operations and maintenance, facility management, and are able to combine these capabilities to solve critical customer needs over the short and long term.

• Subject matter expertise in Building services engineering including HVAC, building automation, and fire and life safety.

• Knowledge of battery manufacturing plant, industrial background is nice to have.
