As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of the classroom, collaborating closely with the Class Teacher. You will have the opportunity to teach whole classes, small groups, and individual lessons, making a lasting impact on students' educational journey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create a positive learning environment by monitoring and intervening when necessary to ensure students' conduct and behaviour align with expectations.
- Foster cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural, and physical development, promoting students' overall well-being.
- Collaborate with therapists and care professionals to support students' therapy or care programs.
- Assist the Class Teacher in carrying out professional duties and contribute to curriculum planning, delivering engaging and tailored teaching and learning activities.
- Support the overall functioning of classes and take the lead in the absence of a Class Teacher.
- Develop and implement individual plans for students, actively participating in reviews when required.
- Engage in the school community by contributing to the preparation and celebration of various events.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience working with SEN students in an employed or voluntary capacity.
- Higher Level Teaching Assistant Diploma or equivalent Level 4 qualification (or demonstrate equivalent skill level) is desirable.
- GCSE pass in Maths and English (C / 4 or Functional Skills Level 2).
- Relevant knowledge and experience with SEN, SLD/PMLD, ADHD, and ASD students.
- Understanding of Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures.
- Experience in managing challenging behaviours and employing a range of behaviour management strategies.
- Prior experience within the education field is advantageous.
