The post holder will coordinate, deliver and manage the provision of medical devices training for the Trust and work collaboratively with other departments to improve safety standards.
The post holder will provide competent support, guidance and advice to all teams across the Trust on the management of medical devices.
The post holder will also be required to ensure that there are robust systems, processes and training programmes in place to meet the requirements of the Trust, CQC and the MHRA for the management, competency, procurement, maintenance and storage of basic and highly complex medical devices.
Therewill also be an expectation for the post holder to support the Trust Risk Lead/CAS and MDSO officer with the management of Central Safety Alerts with clear reporting and sign off process through the organisation.
· To manage, lead and design Trust wide programmes to address training and competency, working collaboratively with all staff groups to evaluate and assess the efficacy of training programmes making necessary adjustments to facilitate high quality training in the safe use of medical devices.
· To formulate and develop long term strategies, policies and procedures to underpin and facilitate the implementation of device training for all staff groups.
· Use specialist knowledge of relevant regulations and requirements to provide direction, guidance and support to organisational teams to ensure their workplaces are compliant with safe use and promoting continual improvement in their management of medical devices.
· To develop, monitor and evaluate appropriate policies and guidelines relating to the safe use of medical devices
· Develop and monitor appropriate guidelines, policies and standards in collaboration with the Medical Devices Safety Officer (MDSO) in relation to education and training on medical devices
· To provide specialised advice and support to clinical staff at all levels in matters relating to medical equipment and patient safety
· To regularly evaluate training materials and manufacturers instruction for accuracy in line with the CQC fundamental standards of care

· Maintain accurate staff training records to demonstrate training compliance and provide evidence and assurance to the Trust/CQC upon request
· To support clinical staff and EME technicians on the appropriate configuration and set up of medical devices for use in specific clinical areas
· To support the Medical Devices Safety Officer (MDSO) in the investigation of clinical incidents related to medical devices
· To design, manage and undertake equipment training needs analysis for all clinical areas in the Trust
· To attend the Clinical Procurement Group and Medical Gases Steering Group meetings
· To produce and present regular reports relating to medical devices, ensuring a focus on training and competency to the Clinical Procurement Group
· To assist the Trust in making recommendations on new medical devices
· To distribute user instructions and medical devices alert bulletins to clinical staff and support any actions that may be required
· To work with the Risk Lead to develop annual objectives for the Medical Devices Team
• To assist the MDSO/ CAS safety officer with the monitoring and dissemination of medical devices safety alerts within the Trust, participating in a rota to ensure that the process is maintained and alerts are actioned in a timely manner.
