Key responsibilities:

• To support the child's learning in class.
• Ensure a secure environment where the pupils feel safe and able to access their learning.
• To enable the child to move safely around the school.
• To adapt lessons or activities where necessary.
• Monitor and advise teaching staff/parents on the child's ability to undertake expected classroom activities.
• To undertake any duties as required by school in relation to the child's overall wellbeing.
• To exchange information with parents and staff to ensure a unified approach to the child's support. * Use professional knowledge and skills to facilitate the child's general learning and development throughout the school day.
• Set termly objectives in conjunction with school staff.

Qualifications and experience:

• Experience working with SEND children in a school environment.
• Experience with providing/willingness to provide personal care support to individuals with high needs (e. peg feeding, toileting, changing etc.)

What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking a Higher Level Teacher Assistant (HLTA) to join our dedicated and supportive team at Penbridge School.

The successful candidate will cover classes for teachers across both of our schools for PPA and when teachers are on training.You will work with class teachers to raise the learning and attainment of pupils, promoting pupils’ independence, self-esteem and social inclusion. You will also provide support to pupils, individually or in groups, so they can access the curriculum and take part in learning. As a HLTA, you will play a crucial role in supporting teaching and learning, both inside and outside the classroom.

• A HLTA qualification would be desirable or has the attribute to work towards obtaining this
• Provide support to teachers in increasing achievement of all pupils including, where appropriate, those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)

• Well-developed interpersonal skills in order to establish strong working relationships with a wide range of people including pupils, staff, parents and external professionals.
