Driver Trainer
Home based with UK travelFull Time, Permanent
Salary: £40,000-£45,000 dependent on experience
Here at Serco, we’re seeking a Driver Trainer to provide expert knowledge, advice and support to the business regarding the construct, delivery and execution of Driver Training across multiple business units, establishing, implementing and maintaining effective procedures and administrative systems. You will deliver bespoke driver training designed to improve skills, behaviour and performance of drivers across the business, driving financial improvements and reducing the risk of accident, incident and potential for consequential injury/damage, focusing on delivery of defensive driving techniques and road safety regulations awareness.
In this key role, you will contribute to the strategy for margin improvement and high growth through Fleet Driver Training service efficiencies and innovation. Deliver on our commitments to provide high quality services that create sustainable value for our customers, employees and shareholders through our Fleet workshop portfolio.
As part of this you will:
Strategy and Plans:
- Contribute as a member of the MyFleet senior management team and in the formation of the business unit training strategies and associated plans.
- Make training process and delivery recommendations to the business where changes in legislation may dictate and contribute to industry best practice for driving standards ensuring at all times that the service meets legislative needs.
- Seek opportunities to improve training delivery methods and to optimise the student learning experience to ensure that time is used effectively, and learning is understood and applied in a working environment.
Customers and Markets:
- To lead and engage in the development of a network of senior relationships with Fleet customers and stakeholders in order to anticipate and meet the Business Unit existing and future needs.
- Lead and manage the relationship with any associated external Fleet providers and National Governing Bodies for the Training, Safety and wellbeing of students. RTITB, LUK, RHA etc
Organisation and People:
- Implement appropriate training policies, practices and equipment to ensure that the health, safety and wellbeing of our employees operating Fleet & Plant is actively managed.
- Engage with Enabling Services fleet managers and Contract Managers to effectively influence, lead and prioritise training to ensure the most effective delivery of service improvements is achieved.
- Assisting with the Planning, prioritising and allocation of Training workloads and KPI’s.
Operations:
- To provide driver training to staff in all driving disciplines including both novice and experienced drivers as detailed in the driver training policy and to meet legislative needs.
- Develop, design and maintain up to date driver course materials including training literature, presentations and assessments in accordance with legislative needs.
- Establish and maintain effective record keeping regarding driving competence to provide accurate individual training records.
What you will need to do the role:
- LGV Driving Instructor qualification: NRI, former DSA instructor or similar.
- A full clean LGV C+E driving licence, held for a minimum of 3 years.
- Up to date driver CPC
- IT literate and familiar with the MS Office package, including PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Be able to effectively train, assess and communicate with students and design and produce quality training materials.
- Experience of Driver Training is a dynamically changing environment.
- Goods Management CPC qualification (Preferred)
- Experience of proactively engaging customers to improve relationships for the long-term and continue to drive value.
- Maintain Continued Professional Development in subject matter areas as directed by organisational requirements..
