We are looking for a highly-motivated, creative and organised Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join the newly‑formed, Wellcome Trust-funded Mirchandani Lab within the Centre for Inflammation Research and Institute for Regeneration & Repair to study the impact of hypoxia on monocyte biology and ontogeny in context of critical illness.
This post is advertised as full-time (35 hours per week); however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns.
The Opportunity:
This is a 3‑year post, full‑time Postdoctoral Research position to work in the group of Dr. Ananda Mirchandani. The Postdoctoral Fellow role will offer a unique mix of utilising and developing inter‑disciplinary scientific techniques, performing cutting‑edge scientific research, and establishing managerial and leadership capabilities. This post is funded by a Wellcome Trust Career Development Award (£3.1 million, 2024‑2033).
Your skills and attributes for success:
A 1st class or 2:1 degree in Immunology or related subject
with relevant post-graduate research experience and accumulated knowledge
A PhD in Immunology or associated subject or equivalent professional qualification and/or experience in the field of Immunology
Proficient in tissue harvesting, digestion and advanced (>12 parameter) flow cytometric analysis and FACS-purification of immune cells from multiple tissues in animal (mouse) models of inflammatory disease.
Generation of bone marrow chimeric mice and adoptive transfer of immune cells.
Proficient in molecular biology techniques such as preparation of material for transcriptional profiling
