We are looking for talented wet-lab Research Fellow to work with a multidisciplinary group of scientists on the discovery of new targets for therapy in Diabetic Nephropathy (DN), a devastating complication of diabetes causing significant morbidity, mortality and human suffering. In Singapore, the incidence of DN as a cause of end-stage kidney disease is among the highest in the world. The job will be part of the NMRC-funded project called Diabetes Study in Nephropathy and other Microvascular Complications II, and it will be based within the Centre for Computational Biology (CCB). This position will be for a period of 3 years, with possible extension depending on work performance and funding availability.

The selected candidate will perform a variety of research activities, which include planning, organising and conducting research studies within the overall scope of a research project under the supervision of the Principal Investigator or his/her designate, including but not limited to the following:

Dr. Jin Zhou’s team is specialised in studying the novel molecular pathogenesis underlying MASH for the identification of new druggable targets. We are seeking one or more highly motivated and creative postdoctoral researchers to join our dynamic team at the Synthetic Biology for Clinical and Technological Innovation (SynCTI), Synthetic Biology Translational Research Programme, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS) and the National Centre for Engineering Biology (NCEB).

The Tang lab’s scientific focus is to understand how muscle functions get impaired during aging and tumorigenesis. The selected candidate will perform a variety of functions related to research under the supervision of the Principal Investigator or his/her designate: -

• Perform tasks and support all aspects of the research project.
• Conduct accurate monitoring, documenting and reporting of experimental results and research findings.
• Evaluate and interpret collected data and prepare oral presentations or written reports/ scientific manuscripts/literature for publication and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.
• Contribute to some project management, provision of guidance to undergraduate/medical students.
• Assist with general upkeep of laboratory needs, maintain safety protocols, provide technical support and establish work procedures to ongoing research projects.
• Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Sciences / Life Sciences.
• Demonstrated basic knowledge, skills and expertise in supporting various research activities.
• Knowledge of the scientific background relevant to the research area.
• Laboratory experimental skills.
• A strong team player who is open-minded, energetic, highly motivated and can work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team and diverse workforce.
