There is a vacancy for a number of trust-wide Medical Education Teaching Fellows. Applications are invited to apply. This post is designed to develop the career of clinicians with an interest in medical education.

The post holders will be individuals from any clinical discipline who are fully registered medical practitioners and who have a keen interest in medical education.

The posts are primarily work-based within QEQMH, Margate and WHH, Ashford, but the post holders will be required to travel to other sites of the Trust as required. These posts have been established to enhance the teaching of medical students at East Kent and to support our undergraduate strategy. The post holder will also provide teaching and educational services to postgraduate medical education. There are dedicated administrative assistants who support the organisation and medical students and trainees within the Trust.



This is a one-year post and at least 80% of the post holder’s time will be spent on educational activities with a focus on:
• Enhancing the teaching of medical students, specifically their clinical skills
• Contributing to the teaching of training doctors
• Participating in the provision of simulation-based learning events (both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and in the delivery of multi- professional training)
• Supporting the improvement of medical student experience and feedback
• Co-leading the Transition to F1 block for medical students including the delivery of clinical skills teaching
• Completing a reflective learning portfolio throughout the year
• Undertaking research into medical education that contributes to the Department’s overall vision and strategy
• Supporting the development of technology enhanced learning across the Department
• Participating in form medical student examinations including OSCEs
• Undertaking a postgraduate qualification in education during the year

About the role

You will be delivering inclusive, responsive and innovative teaching and learning to one of our Secondary Nurture Classes. You will constantly strive to produce outstanding/good teaching and learning at all times to ensure that all learners succeed. You will also have responsibility for overseeing a foundation subject within the curriculum and lead a small number of lessons to other secondary classes. Under the reasonable direction of the Head Teacher and Senior Leadership Team, you will carry out the professional duties of a school teacher as set out in the current School policies.

The Medical Education department are looking for a motivated and adaptable individual able to support our Senior Leadership Team (SLT) with performance and chief of staff responsibilities.
