The Lourie Center School seeks to hire a Teacher's Assistant who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing.
The Lourie Center Head Start (LCHS) program is a federally funded, community-based program for low-income families as well as pregnant women with children from birth to five years old. The program serves children with disabilities, children in foster care and families that are homeless.
As the Teachers Assistant, you will:
•Provide instructional support to the assigned child with the goal of increasing the child's level of independence.
•Assist the teacher and the interdisciplinary team in the formulation and implementation of therapeutic and behavior management strategies for this child in the program.
•Assist the teacher in development of Functional Behavior Assessment and Behavior Plan for assigned child.
•Available to physically restrain child in instances of imminent danger to self or others.
•Read the child’s reports and Individualized Education Program (IEP).
Qualifications Include:
•High School Diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree in education, child development, psychology or related discipline preferred.
•Basic knowledge of child development is required.
•Minimum of one year work experience with special needs children (i.e. school, camp, counselor, childcare work, college practicum experiences, etc).
•Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification require

Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm

Tobacco use is a well-recognized preventable cause of death in the United States and an important public health issue.
