We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team in developing the chassis and mechanical components for a state-of-the-art portable MRI system. This role involves the design and integration of high-precision mechanical components, electronic housings, and thermal management systems, focusing on optimizing manufacturability and durability for portability.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in CAD, additive manufacturing (AM) processes, and a strong background in mechanical design for high-tech medical devices or electronics enclosures.

• Design and develop the MRI chassis and mechanical housing for electronic components, ensuring that all designs meet specifications for strength, weight, thermal stability, and compliance. Ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability and assembly, using knowledge of advanced manufacturing techniques.
• Develop detailed CAD models, assemblies, and technical drawings of chassis, mounts, and enclosures using CAD software SolidWorks. Conduct finite element analysis (FEA) and other simulations to assess structural integrity, thermal performance, and material suitability.
• Lead efforts in prototyping, working with AM processes (SLS, SLA, MJF, DMLS, etc.), CNC,or traditional methods to create high-fidelity prototypes.
• Troubleshoot and solve design issues identified during testing, iterating quickly to improve reliability and performance.

Required/Desired Skills

The Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities at the Singapore University of Technology and Design is seeking a full-time Research Fellow or Research Associate, to join a growing research team dedicated to understanding human behavior in cities.

The Team

Our highly qualified and successful Science department consists of a five strong collaborative and highly capable teaching team, supported by two experienced and exceptionally creative Technicians. The Science Department is housed in six state of the art, bright, high-ceilinged labs and two specialist preparation rooms, with impressive views of the local area. Our results have been increasing year on year, with GCSE results in line with national average progress 8 scores. As a department we are committed to improving outcomes and sparking interest, with small class sizes in all GCSE year groups. Research Scientist for Research on Wireless Power Transfer

The hired Research Scientist will work on the research of wireless power transfer (WPT) in the Biomedical EM Lab at Singapore University of Technology and Design (http://people.sutd.edu.sg/~huangshaoying/). The contract is 1 year (renewable) for research assistants.

Project Description

The project is to investigate the electromagnetic mechanisms for a compact, efficient, and wideband antenna/radiator suitable for wireless energy harvesting (WEH)/WPT. This exploration will span both conductive and magnetoelectric (ME) antennas. Our study will consider WIFI, power from base stations, and WPT as potential power sources.

Job Scopes:

• Literature review of the research domain
• Investigations on the electromagnetic mechanisms for a compact, efficient, and wideband antenna/radiator suitable for WEH/WPT
• Designs of small antennas/radiators for WEH/WPT
• Antenna/radiator fabrications and testing
• Paper writing and documentations

Your profile

We are looking for a researcher with the following expertise and skills,

• A PhD in electrical engineering, physics, or related field
• Knowledge on EM theories microwave engineering, especially antenna theories and transmission line theories
• A background on EM modeling and simulation software (e.g., CST)
• Research or design experience on WEH/WPT and/or antenna designs
• Testing and characterization of RF/microwave devices or components
• Python/Matlab coding
• Good track record of the capacity to drive first author publications
• Good communication skills and interpersonal skills
• A good team player
