Position Summary:
This is a full-time, nine-month, faculty position in the English Department. This three-year position has the potential to be renewed. The teaching load is 24 credits per year (12 credits each semester). In addition to teaching, a Lecturer in Composition is expected to attend department meetings, engage in professional development, serve on the composition subcommittee, and possibly teach concurrent enrollment classes.
Job Description:
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Teach 12 credits of COMP 100-level and/or COMP 200-level courses each semester.
- Hold regular office hours.
- Provide students with course materials and instruction both in-person and via Canvas.
- Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with diverse communities.
- Maintain knowledge and awareness of digital accessibility including the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 508.
- Produce and maintain digitally accessible materials in accordance with FLC standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education, Specialized Skills and Experience:
- Advanced degree in Composition and Rhetoric or associated field.
- Disciplinary knowledge in Composition and Rhetoric.
- Experience teaching 100- and 200-level college Composition courses.
- Demonstrated teaching excellence.
- Demonstrated success working with a diverse student population.
Reports To / Supervisory Responsibility:
The employee reports to the Chair of the Department of English.

Compensation
The salary for this position is $45,000, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
