This is an exciting new post for an experienced Clinical Pharmacist to support the co-ordination, design and delivery of an Education and Training Programme for the CLCH Medicines Management team.
We are looking for a candidate with excellent organisational, educational and leadership skills who has the ability to help to develop an in house training programme. The post holder will need to be an experienced clinician and trainer with a sound understanding of the primary care workforce educational needs.
The postholder will be supported by the Lead Pharmacists for Medicines optimisation to deliver an education and training programme- including developing competencies, providing supervision and mentorship as well as supporting the development of rotational programmes across the trust. This post would suit a highly motivated and innovative individual with an ability to influence, engage and challenge with integrity and credibility.
Central London Community Healthcare Trust is a large community trust providing care to more than 2 million people.
• To lead on design, delivery and coordinate the education and training programme for the CLCH Medicines management team.
• Provide expert advice on pharmaceutical matters within clinical setting.
• Develop local pharmacist and technician competency in line with national frameworks e.g RPS,CPPE and NHSE workforce training and education.
• Work with the Trust ‘Academy’ and local/regional education providers to ensure Medicines Management training needs of Trust Clinical staff are being met.
• To co-ordinate and help to shape the content of rotational programmes for Pharmacy staff, including rotational technician programmes and Foundation Pharmacist rotations, in liaison with internal and external stakeholders.
• Supervision and management of Pharmacists/Technicians
• To support trust wide medicines management workstreams.
• Responsible for policy and service development with respect to education and training
• Support workforce to develop advanced practice
Trust wide Medicines Management Service Provision includes policy development, implementation of patient safety initiatives, audits and reporting.
The post will be based at Parsons Green Health Centre and postholder will be required to travel trust wide.

• To support new professionals in Primary care, Community Hospitals or Community Health sector working in Bedded Services and Community Health Services enabling the professional to become a fully integrated and utilised member of the team.
• Lead and deliver a clinical training programme for Pharmacists and Technician working within CLCH
• Co-ordinate and design the content of rotational programmes, including rotational technician programmes and Foundation Pharmacist rotations.
• Establish and monitor the medicines related training and competency requirements for all pharmacy staff and work alongside the Trusts Training Academy to provide Trust assurance.
• Assess the performance and learning needs of pharmacy staff and design educational plans to address those needs.
• Evaluate feedback from the training programme and ensure quality assurance though designing and implementation of audit.
• Organise and deliver clinical teaching, clinical supervision, facilitate peer support, local faculty groups and mentorship.
• To work with the CLCH Academy to develop and support training programs which address the needs of wider CLCH practitioners and staff relating to medicines & prescribing.
• Work with local/regional education providers to ensure training needs of Trust Clinical staff are being met e.g., NHSE workforce training and education.
• Be an educational supervisor for Foundation trainees/CPPE programme and manage the development and maintenance of pharmacy training programmes locally. To develop ‘Educational Supervisors’ to support pharmacists undertaking diploma and Designated prescribing practitioner to support pharmacists undertaking IP
• Communicate highly complex medicines related information to clinicians, patients and trainees and adapt learning and communication style.
• To demonstrate leadership and people management skills and positively influence members of the team and other healthcare stakeholders and where appropriate challenge others.
• To be able to interpret highly complex national and local educational policies in order to design strategic approaches for the MM team education planning and development.
• Able to manage own workload and able to respond to unpredictable work patterns.
• To identify and lead areas for research within the medicines management team in line with the Trusts research strategy and supervise and support pharmacy staff undertaking research including writing papers for publication or posters for presentation at conferences.
• To provide support to the Non Medical Prescribing (NMP) Lead in implementing the NMP strategy across CLCH e.g. facilitating training at NMP continuing education training days and being part of NMP course application review panel.
