Mandate:
This role is accountable for leading the design, development and management of learning and development programming (formal and informal) for North American Commercial Bank. This role has a strong internal consulting focus on the disciplines of project management and learning development and acts as an advocate for the development and delivery of focused solutions based upon industry leading adult learning principles and skill building. The Senior learning consultant will focus on supporting medium and long-term strategic goals of the LOB/Role through the delivery of innovative learning and development strategies and programs. Depending on the demand across Segment group, there will be expectations in this role to manage multiple curriculums for various roles/audiences using a wide range of development and learning methods.
Relationship Management
- Subject matter expert for design and development of learning solutions for LOB employees with a focus on segment roles.
- Work with LOB to assess and identify critical areas of performance weakness in key LOB roles and design specific consulting strategies to build solutions to address client needs
- Provide value added professional advice to LOB to enhance business results and employee effectiveness through learning
- Provides a line of business perspective on credit risk and sales strategy, has an in-depth and hand on knowledge of BMO’s risk culture
- Understands and balances the needs of the businesses when evaluating informal and formal learning solutions
Curriculum Design, Development & Management
- Learning consultant who applies extensive learning knowledge to LOB requirements as identified
- Influence the LOB with well thought out and imaginative recommendations in regard to best practices and future directions of learning
- Formulate and recommend appropriate content and delivery design and select service providers, both internal and external, to ensure alignment to overall strategies
- Recommend and maintain assessment processes to evaluate program outcomes and results, relating to program performance as Return on Investment
Program/Project Management
- Develop effective project plans to facilitate the development of learning development programs and curriculum
- Provide day to day management of assigned projects to ensure objectives are met
- Compile data and analyze development requirements via employee interviews, focused assessments, etc.
Team Effectiveness/People Leadership, where required
- Collaborate internally with LOB, HRBP, IFL and externally with suppliers to design relevant, business initiative supporting programs, to be delivered through various channels
- Collaborate with peers to investigate, recommend and / or implement changes to the learning process models, strategies and business process based upon direct contact with LOB
- Act as Learning subject matter expert within the segment/role initiatives and opportunities
- Program management and working team leadership – ability to lead, manage and coach team members
Talent and Employee Professional Development Training and fostering talent goes hand in hand
- Through various initiatives and programs, help to incubate talent and develop careers of employees who are interested in navigating BMO
- Partnership with HR BP and LOB executives and segment leaders to identify ways to broaden soft skills (coaching sessions, seminars, mentorship, corporate sponsor program)
Qualifications:
- Typically between 5 - 7 years of relevant banking experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Deep knowledge and technical proficiency gained through extensive education and business experience.

Compensation and Benefits:
$72,500.00 - $134,500.00

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.
Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
