1. This position will support the Federal Government's response efforts to COVID-19. As the department's Health and Safety Officer (HSO), plans, directs, coordinates, and evaluates activities necessary to implement a comprehensive Fire Department Occupational Safety and Health Program.

2. Prepares and develops specialized Flight Management Plans and Standard Operation Policies/Guides defining mishap prevention, handling, and storage procedures based on interpretation and/or adaptation of instructions and policies formulated by higher headquarters or other federal government agencies.

3. As the department's Hazardous Materials Response Program Manager, manages the various program elements to prepare, equip, and respond to emergencies involving the release or potential release of hazardous materials into the environment.

4. As the primary Incident Safety Officer (ISO), participate within the incident management system as a command staff member and respond in accordance with SOP/SOG to emergency incidents.

5. Plans investigations and analyzes mishaps and hazardous conditions to determine origin, causes, and contributing elements and prepares written reports concerning findings.

• Assists in administering the base local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) for the installation.
• Assists in planning, testing, and configuring base network systems.
• Analyzes and resolves problems and trends.
• Provides customer support, assistance, training, and orientation.

Summary Continued - environmental, security, policy review, and public affairs resource management in support of the mission and the commander's priorities. Modifies standard methods, evaluates the effectiveness of information, and adapts approaches in developing new informational materials aimed at enhancing the understanding of recipients.

DUTIES:

• Coordinates the planning and development of complex, high level public affairs assignments in support of commander's programs and priorities.
• Researches, drafts, coordinates, produces, and reviews public affairs products such as news releases, talking points, fact sheets, news and feature articles, web-based content, briefings, speeches and scripts, newsletters, photographs, videos, pod casts, and other materials.
• Represents the office with a variety of installation and local governmental, media, community engagement, service, and educational organizations.
• Assists in the planning, organizing and carrying out the visual information program.

Serves as lead outside attendant with responsibility for assisting with the maintenance program for all sports and recreational facilities assigned to Fitness and Sports. Prepares sports and recreation facilities to specific guidelines in support of the intramural and varsity sports program. Inspects playing area and surface for any potential safety hazards and takes immediate measures to correct. Plans the year round turf maintenance program for outside facilities. Serves as section VCO, overseeing the routine and preventative maintenance program for all vehicles and equipment assigned to outside maintenance. Coordinates with Transportation Squadron to ensure that all scheduled maintenance on appropriated fund equipment is performed on time. Manages and oversees the routine maintenance and up keep of all outside maintenance equipment including but not limited to riding mowers, push mowers, tractors, weed-eaters, edgers, leave blowers and specialty turf maintenance equipment. Checks warranties prior to requesting or performing repairs. Assists the fitness maintenance staff with the repair and maintenance of fitness equipment and indoor sports facilities. Sets up and takes down equipment for sports programs and/or special events. Operate government motor vehicles to pick up and deliver supplies, materials and equipment to fitness and sports work stations. Works under the supervision of the Sports and Fitness Director who makes assignments by defining objectives, priorities and deadlines. Supervisor advises on new or unusual problems that arise and spot checks completed work to see that it meets accepted standards and customer satisfaction. Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Uses professional knowledge to lead installation prevention training team efforts to include all mandatory integrated prevention and resilience training as required by DoD, DAF, MAJCOM/Field Command and installation leadership.
• Community Action Team member directly supporting execution of established initiatives and development of the installation Community Action Plan (CAP).
• Develop and deliver effective primary prevention and resilience strategic communication and marketing that drives healthy and positive cultural norms leading to a resilient Total Force and families.

The function of the organization where this position is located is in official functional statements. The purpose of this position is to perform manual labor tasks involving the use of common hand tools and simple power equipment. Performs one or a contribution of the following manual labor tasks: Drags softball fields with tractor and gator; mark football and softball fields with chalk and paint. Loads and unloads heavy boxes, bulky supplies, and materials to and from tracks, dollies, etc., moves heavy boxes, cartons, or luggage by hand, hand truck, or dolly; opens crates and boxes using crowbars, and cuts bands using shears; stacks boxes and cartons where directed. Using a shovel, digs ditches and trenches where a pick is not needed to loosen the dirt. and where grading and sloping is not required; fills holes with dirt and levels bumps and low places, using shovel, hand tamper, and rake. Runs hand lawnmowers or (domestic type) powered lawnmowers, when this does not require heavy physical effort (for example, on steep grades); clears small trees and bushes, using handsaw, hatchet, or clipper. Moves and arranges furniture as directed; shovels snow from sidewalks; washes and waxes cars and trucks by hand or power buffer. Performs other related duties as assigned.
