The Service

Housing, Neighbourhood & Building Services. The overall purpose of Sheltered Housing is to provide the right accommodation and support when needed.

Sheltered Housing promote independent living for residents, with the reassurance that someone is on hand to give support and to help in an emergency. Residents have their own tenancy agreement with Portsmouth City Council therefore residents are able to live independently in their own accommodation, but with support available as needed. There are shared areas in the sheltered scheme in which residents can meet and enjoy some social activities.

What is the role?

Residents in Sheltered Housing have a range of physical and mental health needs which means that they need our support to maintain their independence. You will work to achieve this as per the Sheltered Housing purpose.

You will be working as a Cat 1 Service Support Manager with direct line management responsibility for a team of up to 10 scheme managers who provide advice and support to residents living in Cat 1 Sheltered Housing schemes in the Somerstown and Portsea area. You will be based in the Somerstown Hub so you are directly linked to the location and close by and will work closely and report to the assistant sheltered housing manager.

The team you manage will be responsible for providing duties from daily visits and calls to residents, completion of support plans, scheme checks, alarm and health and safety checks, supporting with bills, emergency shopping and liaising with and or acting as an advocate with other professionals on the resident's behalf. There may also be occasions when you are required to provide this housing related support service yourself.

You need to have:

10. Have an understanding of the role of Social Services, Health Services and voluntary agencies in the provision of services to people and be able to work with them with the purpose of achieving the best outcome for service users.
11. Have good written skills as you will need to be able to write concise notes in residents files, respond to complaints and compile reports, for example in relation to Safeguarding matters and or staffing issues.
12. The ability to prioritise workloads and self-manage your time effectively to meet the different areas of the role.
13. Have basic IT skills, including the use of Microsoft Outlook and Word/Excel and be able to use in house databases as required.
14. Hold a full UK Driving License and have access to a vehicle during working hours.

• Monday -Friday 9am-5pm based primarily within court settings, but also meeting service users within the community

The Service

What is the role

You will be working within a busy finance team responsible for maximising both client and Social Care income, looking after the finances of clients who lack the capacity to do so themselves and ensuring all their financial obligations are met.

You will be dealing with client queries, both face to face and over the telephone.

The role will involve you using five client databases to offer technical and specialist support and advise to the case holding Officers. You will be responsible for maintaining client records, reconciling accounts, making payments on behalf of clients ensuring that their financial interests are protected, raising invoices, report generation for the Office of Public Guardianship (OPG) in line with specific deadlines and auditing requirements.

In addition, you will also provide vital administrative support to team as well as leading on business-as-usual testing of system upgrades pertaining to the team's primary money management IT system. The role extends across multiple teams both internal to PCC and external.

What you need to succeed

With strong IT skills and an excellent telephone manner you will be preferable educated to NVQ 3 in business administration or have extensive work experience of providing technical/administrative support in a busy office environment. You will have an attention to detail, good analytical skills and a good understanding of the mental capacity act 2005 and the office of public guardianship their remit and deputyship process and procedures. In addition, you will have the ability to work on your own initiative and be able to plan and priorities your work.
