About the Role
This is an opportunity to join an innovative, TEC award-winning team, who work alongside adults with a complex range of needs related to their learning disability and autism, mental or physical health, or a combination of these. The successful candidates will have a real interest in relationship-based social work, with a focus on building independence through a positive approach to risk and use of the strengths-based model.
You will work closely with adults across Essex placed in supported living accommodation and residential care to undertake Care Act reviews with a focus on developing independence and progression, as well as with their family members, advocates, and care providers. The role also requires close partnership working with a range of internal partners, such as Procurement and Commissioning and Essex Legal Services, and external partners, including health and the Court of Protection.
This is a highly motivated, positive and supportive team, with an established approach to nurturing staff and supporting professional development and wellbeing. The team is passionate about person-centred practice, and balances this with delivering effective supported living whole-scheme reviews. The team are also champions for technology-enabled care (TEC), and have a proven track record of improving adults' independence through TEC.
This role sits within our Countywide service, as part of a cohort of teams supporting adults living within all areas of Essex, and out of county. The role will be community and home based, with the flexibility of being based from any of our Essex locations for administrative purposes. Countywide travel is required, and there will be an expectation to work from ECC and health buildings across Essex, as needed.
About You
To apply you should be a qualified social worker with a current Social Work England registration. You'll bring at least 1 year's post qualifying social work experience, evidence of continuing professional development, and capability of practice in accordance with current professional standards.
There is a need for attention to detail and knowledge of the Care Act, Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty and Court of Protection procedures. The postholder will be confident in person-centred and positive risk-taking approaches.
You'll also bring:
- Evidence of continuing professional development and capability of practice in accordance with current professional standards.
- An in-depth understanding of the financial implications of commissioned care packages.
- The ability to make clear decisions, to highlight and limit potential risks associated with intervention.
This role involves travelling around Essex. A driving licence and car - or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means - is essential.
As part of employment with Essex County Council (ECC) should your role require a DBS check you will be required to register with the DBS update service.
