Job Summary

Required Job Qualifications:
* Bachelors Degree and 4 years in Information Technology or relevant experience OR Technical Certification and/or College Courses and 6 year Information Technology experience OR 8 years Information Technology experience.

•    Experience with multi-node clustering, architecture, development, implementation, and health monitoring of the indexes
•    Knowledge of hot/warm/cold data/index lifecycle management implementations
•    Knowledge of Elasticsearch Management, reindexing and data mappings, JSON and KQL searching syntax, and Kibana dashboard options
•    Proficiency and knowledge of Elasticsearch's cross-cluster search (CCS) feature
•    Experience with automated configuration management tool and playbooks (Ansible, Chef, Puppet, blade logic etc) and (Docker) containers, and GitHub
•    Experience with cloud infrastructure preferably Azure
•    Experience working in DevOps structured and Agile organizations.
•    Excellent communication, and relationship skills to articulate advanced technical topics and build consensus among stakeholders.

The Litigation Support Team at Leidos currently supporting the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) in Los Angeles, CA has an opening for a Senior Paralegal to work in a downtown Los Angeles, CA DOJ office performing Senior Paralegal duties. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the U.S. Department of Justice achieve their mission. 

Responsibilities include:

- Performs specialized legal research and writing in support of work in assigned area of criminal or civil prosecution, including research and analysis of statutes, legislative intent, judicial precedents, agency rules and regulations, and law review articles as they related to assigned cases to include those of an especially complex or unprecedented nature.

- Utilizes a variety of automated resources to research case or program specific legal matters, and to participate in assigned areas of criminal or civil proceedings, e.g., electronic discovery.

- Assists in the development of case referrals.

- Performs a variety of tasks associated with litigation of cases in assigned specialty area including:

• Receiving and analyzing incoming pleadings and correspondence

• Determining appropriate action and notes time limitations for responses

• Drafting correspondence and legal documents for attorney’s signature

• Drafting proposed orders and decrees for signature of judges and magistrates

- Assists in pretrial prep by:

• preparing, scheduling, reviewing, and organizing discovery;

• notifying, interviewing, and managing witnesses;

• researching case law;

• supporting assigned attorney(s) in court proceedings by briefing attorney on pertinent facts, issues, and case law, and by compiling, organizing, and indexing exhibits.

Required Qualifications: 

- Paralegal certificate, or JD, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study (or equivalent)

- 2+ years of litigation paralegal experience or project experience, including at least one year of experience in automated litigation support. 

- Knowledge of federal and state court system, legal research procedures, and legal research resources. 

- Knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw. 

- Familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources. 

- Familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems.   

- Must be knowledgeable user of the Government's office and network environment, including but not limited to, word processing, database, spreadsheet, imaging, and telecommunications systems. 

- Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Desired Qualifications: 

- Experience working in a Government and/or Litigation Support environment in conjunction with basic qualifications

- Trial experience

- Current or active clearance

This position is covered under the Service Contract Act and is subject to minimum wage requirements as well as the minimum Health and Welfare benefit. Leidos will ensure that all provisions are met through their wages and benefits. The pay for this position will be $30.10/hr.
