About us

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a brand-new Adolescent Service that is being created in Surrey. This new service will bring together a range services for young people including those who go missing, are involved in gang culture and are vulnerable to exploitation, including criminal and sexual exploitation. Our team includes Social Workers and Adolescent Practitioners who are focussed on achieving positive outcomes for young people. We are committed to doing things differently through implementing a brand-new model for working with adolescents, taking into account current research and best practice.

About the role

We are looking for enthusiastic people who want to be part of the journey to help shape services in Surrey for adolescents. You will have support from a range of teams in a central hub to compliment the work that you do. This includes Youth Justice, Missing, Edge of Care and Rapid Response, Intervention Support, Risk and Intelligence and Youth Offer. As part of the latter phase of the safeguarding adolescents model, partnership colleagues from Education, Health, Police and other agencies will join the hubs as part of the commitment towards adolescents services in Surrey.

You will work with skilled, passionate, and supportive Team Managers and colleagues, looking at innovative ways to address adolescent risk outside of the home, building relationships with our families and partners so the voices of our young people are heard.

About the Role
As a Senior Project Officer, you will provide project management and administrative support for a multi-disciplinary team, such as scheduling meetings, minute taking, tracking actions and production of reports on the project. Integral to the role will be communication with a broad range of stakeholders both internal and external and collaborative cross-team working with colleagues across Surrey County Council (e.g. IT, HR, Communications) as required.

About the Team

The Children with Disabilities Outreach Service is countywide and our aim is to provide a quality assured service as part of the child's care plan, with the overall mission of improving outcomes for disabled children in Surrey. We are now looking to develop our team, predominantly across the West of Surrey and have introduced this senior role to ensure we are able to meet current demand and level of complexity of referrals to our service.

As a service we have significant expertise in supporting children and young people with complex needs, including autistic spectrum conditions, behaviour that challenges, profound and multiple learning disabilities and associated complex health needs. The team is currently made up of the Team Manager, three Coordinators, three Senior Support Workers and a number of experienced Bank staff.

About the Role

In this role you will be supporting children and families in their homes and in their communities, following referrals from Social Workers in the Children with Disabilities Team. Senior Support Workers are matched to support children based on their skills and experience, ensuring we provide a consistent service that is specially tailored both to the child's care plan and your strengths.

We offer flexible hours of support which includes (but is not limited to): before and after school, weekends, school holidays and some office hours included during the day.

The Senior role is very varied but on a day-to-day basis you will be involved in the following:

• Both hands-on work in the community and office-based work


• Providing support and direction to junior and new members of the team


• Assisting the Coordinators in the smooth running of the service


• Partnership work with other professionals

About the Team Surrey's Transformation Design Team was set up in early 2024 to grow and embed Design across the Council. Our team encompasses different types of Design expertise from Organisational Design to Service Design and Design Research.
