We are excited to recruit a Trainee ACP to our growing team and are seeking enthusiastic and dynamic individuals for trainee ACP posts within the Emergency Department at Bristol Royal Infirmary. You will be expected to complete the RCEM adult competencies and subsequent credentialing process. Trainees will be expected to achieve competency in all areas of the adult ED (Fast Flow, Majors, Resuscitation, SDEC) and will complete the academic and practical aspects of ACP training, including a funded part-time MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice and workplace-based assessments following the Royal College of Emergency Medicine 2022 ACP curriculum. After successful completion of the three-year MSc and successful RCEM credentialing trainees will be become a substantive band 8a.Educational opportunities will include a bespoke individualised learning portfolio that will be adapted to meet specific learning requirements, ensuring development of competencies required for the role fulfilling the full RCEM curriculum. Clinical supervision will be supported by an allocated consultant Educational Supervisor, an ACP Clinical Supervisor and the Lead ACP.

All trainee ACPs will work and 80:20 split between clinical and non-clinical time as well as regular educational teaching and placements across acute medicine, ITU, surgery and anaesthetics. There are regular ACP and MDT teaching activities within the ED which trainees attend.

Working within our Household Energy Services (HES) team, this role is for those people who would like to learn how to give energy advice to householders.

The ideal candidate will be able to provide strong customer service while working within agreed boundaries. There is also an important administrative element to the role so accuracy and attention to detail are key.

You will working primarily on our telephone advice projects making outbound calls. In particular, you'll give energy advice to vulnerable National Grid and OVO customers.

Pay and conditions

• The role is full-time (37.5 hours per week).
• The salary for the role will be £22455 (starting salary will depend on skills and experience).
• You will be entitled to 25 days paid holiday (plus statutory holidays).

Specific responsibilities:

• To work on the advice line and other telephone advice projects making and
receiving calls from people who may need help with energy related issues.
• To record client details and use own knowledge to assess help and support
needed.
• To refer clients onto other support organisations in their area as appropriate.
• To identify energy improvements that can be made to clients’ properties and refer
to installers who can fit them.
• To help vulnerable clients make applications for grants and switch energy tariffs
where appropriate.
• To listen attentively to callers (some of whom may be in distress) and respond to
their needs in an empathetic way.
• To be familiar with and adhere to advice line protocol, processes and procedures.

Essential attributes for this role include:

• Maths/English GCSE or Equivalent (minimum).
• Experience of giving advice, customer service or helping others in some
capacity.
• The ability to respond to clients in a respectful and engaging manner.
• The ability to communicate effectively with people verbally and in writing.
• The ability to maintain admin systems independently and accurately.
• The ability to manage your time and workload.
• Skilled in use of MS office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook.
