Here at Capita Local Public Service we have a very exciting opportunity for a Finance Assistant to join our skilled and friendly team, working within the finance team you will be responsible for the maintenance and reconciliation of accounts for the schools and multi academy trusts that we look after.
We are ideally looking for someone with some accountancy experience/knowledge however we would consider someone without this so long as they have a flair for numbers and the desire to learn and progress. The right person for this role will have excellent communication skills, a high level of attention to detail and a great customer focus. In return you will work with a highly knowledgeable and supportive team and have many opportunities to progress and develop in this finance sector

What you’ll be doing:
Maintenance and reconciliation of the accounts
Validation and processing invoices
Cash flow monitoring
Compliance with VAT regulations
Completion of monthly returns posting summary and bank reconcilaiton
Reconciliation of school accounts to the local authority accounts
Preparation of reports for the Headteacher and budget holders
Assisting with completion of year end creditors, debtors, receipts and payments in advance
Assisting with the preparation of year end returns and closing of accounts
Setting up the new year budgets in the new financial year
Producing reports for validation of budgets set up
What we’re looking for:
Ideally knowledge of accounting principles and practice
Able to prioritise tasks and work under time limits to deliver a service specification
An excellent communicator with customers and colleagues
An attention to detail
Ability to work independently.
A competent user of bookkeeping/accounting packages and Microsoft Office
Working experience of bookkeeping/accountancy
Able to carry out bookkeeping procedures to produce accurate financial records
A car owner/driver
