Assistant Pre-Construction Manager
£38,500 - £47,000 plus great benefits including company car (Work Level 6A)
Remote / Field-based with regular travel and some overnight stays. A full valid UK driving license is required
We're looking for a motivated Assistant Pre-Construction Manager to join Co-op's Property team. You'll support the Pre-construction team in all aspects of project feasibility prior to handing over to the delivery teams and be the main point of contact for programme data. You'll take opportunities to drive down costs and improve our processes through analysis of our project workstreams.
This varied role offers you the chance to work autonomously and is a great opportunity for you to work across multiple business units, gaining exposure and knowledge as you go. We'll also help you to develop in the role, providing access to lots of really valuable training.
What you'll do
- Take ownership of pre-construction projects feasibility, making sure they're completed on time, within budget approval limits, quality standards are met, and change / risk are managed
- Make sure that all projects are delivered to the latest Health & Safety legislation, Co-op Specifications & Standards
- Lead a team of external suppliers and consultants to prepare the pre-construction requirements which support the successful delivery of projects
- Develop strong relationships with key teams and partners across all areas of the business, including delivery, health safety and environment, PMO (project management office) and strategy, format and facilities management
- Analyse the specific requirements of individual projects, considering the delivery options and costs, making sure the short and long-term impacts are reflected in business delivery solutions
- Support Project and Programme governance meetings and make sure agenda actions are completed
- Utilise your knowledge and skills to regularly challenge and improve the way we deliver projects and make sure we are driving the right outcomes in the wider team
- Support project leads in looking at our pre-construction approach, including new initiatives, trials and roll outs for the required business cases needing approval
This role would suit people who have
- Retail or construction project management experience
- Strong project management skills - you're organised and can prioritise your workload and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- The ability to work independently, and willingness to travel across the UK when required
- Good general IT skills with the ability to use programmes in the Microsoft Office Suite such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with and influence partners at all levels of the business
