• Education: Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field; RICS or CIOB membership preferred.
• Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of cost planning, budget management, and construction contracts, with experience using cost management software (e.g., COINS, CostX).
• Analytical and Communication Skills: High attention to detail with excellent analytical abilities, along with strong written and verbal communication skills for engaging stakeholders at all levels.
• Leadership: Proven ability to lead and develop junior team members and foster a collaborative work environment.

What will I be doing as a Construction Teacher?

The main purpose of the role is to ensure that our learners achieve the appropriate construction knowledge and experience, alongside developing their employability, personal and social skills.

Duties include (but are not limited to):

• Develop appropriate learning resources, facilities, and environment to support high quality teaching and learning, preparing learners for the world of work/further study.
• Planning and delivery of lessons to learners at Level 1 and level 2, ensuring they gain qualifications successfully.
• Regularly assess and measure progress from starting points and attainment of skills and qualifications through ILPs.
• Evaluate and assess the work of learners in relation to the curriculum criteria and provide timely, constructive, and helpful learner feedback; helping learners develop the skills, knowledge, and behaviours to progress to their next steps.

Requirements for this role:

• Industry experience in construction including brickwork is essential.
• Proven experience of supporting others in developing technical/vocational skills
• L2 English & Maths is essential.
• A Teaching qualification, CET/PTTLS OR DET equivalent or above is preferred. However, support will be given to those willing to work towards a teaching qualification.
• An Enhanced with Barred Lists DBS check is essential.

Quantity Surveyor - Social Housing Refurbs / Planned Maintenance

We are working with a leading Social Housing contractor to recruit an experienced and successful Quantity Surveyor to join their team in the Yorkshire area to deliver a planned works and decarbonisation project.

We are looking for a proven commercial professional with experience in refurbishment programmes, ideally within the Social Housing sector with knowledge of internal and external planned maintenance programmes and a comprehensive commercial understanding of subcontractor procurement and cost management, the CVR process as well as excellent client relationship skills.

Your new role

You will be working with a leading Social Housing provider in South Yorkshire, as part of a multidisciplinary team; to undertake inspections of residences, to diagnose and make evidence-based recommendations to ensure the housing portfolio is maintained at a high standard. You will be responsible for carrying out a variety of surveys including planned and reactive maintenance repairs, voids, damp and mould and condensation surveys. You will create a schedule of works based on your findings before engaging with stakeholders, such as contractors/developers and local authorities, in order to ensure that identified defects have been repaired to the required standard. You will listen to and log customers queries during your visits, providing a point of referral.

Senior / Managing Quantity Surveyor - High-end Residential projects.
Your new company

A successful residential developer working across the UK on high end developments seek an experienced senior QS to join the team. With several new projects starts imminent, almost exclusively for social housing developments. Schemes are geared towards the higher end of the market and tend to be high rise residential blocks, £6 - £60m. Due to a planned expansion within the business, there is now an additional need for a permanent Senior Quantity Surveyor to work closely with the operations director and back office teams. With newly refurbished offices in a central location, a stacked orderbook and stable team, this is an excellent long-term opportunity for any QS looking to work on the more bespoke higher end of the residential sector.

Your new role

As senior Qs, you will be responsible for all commercial decisions across multiple sites. Your duties will include helping price new schemes, authorising payments, measuring/remeasuring works on site, assessing/agreeing variations, mitigating any financial risk, agreeing final accounts and liaising with various stakeholders to ensure the right commercial decisions are being taken for the business.

You will work predominantly in the Sheffield office, 2 days a week, hybrid working, visiting your various sites once a month.

You will be heavily involved in the shaping of the role and your opinion will be actively sought on best practise and alternative processes. This is a key role within the business and one that is expected to grow into a commercial lead in the medium term.

What you'll need to succeed

You will be a competent Senior QS with a stable background working within the higher end residential sector. You will have previously worked in a similar role with either a main contractor or Developer and be comfortable working independently, managing your own workload and making commercial decisions.

You will ideally have some form of surveying qualifications and be looking for a long-term career move.
