Graduate Building Surveyor

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a graduate building surveyor to join our place & asset services team. The Capita Surveying team is a vibrant professional team of over 45 Building Surveyors and Services Engineers servicing a diverse range of commissions in the public and private sectors. The team is located throughout northern England plus with local teams in Greater London and Edinburgh. Due to continued success in securing quality commissions coupled with a strong pipeline of opportunities. The successful candidates will work on both survey and project instructions with particular focus on Technical Due Diligence.
You'll support our continuing growth in the North West of England, with opportunities to work on a wide range of projects, including Technical Due Diligence and Forensic Surveying commissions, across different sectors. Our team works in a hybrid style, this being a mix of site working, home working and office working from our Manchester office bases.
Joining a diverse multi-disciplinary team, you'll be supported by colleagues with different levels of experience and qualifications. As well as deepening your understanding of Building Surveying, you'll get the opportunity to strengthen your project management skills and develop specialist knowledge in areas like Net Zero and Fire Safety.
What you'll be doing:
• Assist with developing detailed briefs in collaboration with the client and senior colleagues
• Carry out site surveys (including measured surveys, condition surveys and defect analysis)
• Undertake design and specification work and assist with preparing tender information
• Assist with administering building contracts
• Work on all aspects of professional surveying (including condition surveys, specific defect analysis, party wall matters, dilapidations, access audits and FRAs)
• Liaise with clients, contractors and other consultants (internal and external)

What we are looking for:
• BSc in Building Surveying or equivalent
• Working towards the APC Final Assessment with RICS, CIOB, or similar
• A good communicator and relationship builder
• Self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision
• Ability to prioritise and work to deadlines
• Good AutoCAD skills and ability to work with new software and platforms to improve efficiency
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Ability to demonstrate flexible approach to work and willingness to travel/stay away from home for short periods as may be required.
